Everyone was excited for me, but honestly I was pi$$sed at this one lady who sits in the front of the suite and is the receptionist...she used to be real nice to my face but I knew from some of the other girls I work by that she talked madd sh!t behind my back...so I honestly just stopped saying 'hello' or 'goodbye' or ANYTHING to her coz I hate being fake.
So when she found out I was engaged she came running up and was like 'OMG!!! Congrats that's SOOOOOO exciting!!' and gave me a kiss...started oohing and ahhing over my ring...and all I'm thinking is 'Ugggggh now I have to be fake nice to her again'

She probably just wants to be invited to the wedding. I had some random people email/call me when they found out... turns out all of them are single and wanted to come to my wedding.

Almost everyone congratulated me. A person who claims I am like her sister or bf to her, knew I got engaged and never said a word. She also changed her cell # and didn't give it to me. Sees me thru mutual friends and acts like all is grand. Never did anything to her and always liked her. Just boggles my mind. Then, more than 2 months later, congatulates me on FB... as if she just found out. BUT I emailed her and she checks her email on her crackberry everyday. So... that was just VERY weird. I am 2nd guessing inviting her to my eparty or wedding now. ![]()

I work for a family, I got engaged in NC and our flight got delayed 2 days so I called them to let them know I was engaged and about my flight. About 2 days after I come back the mother FINALLY says congratulations, the oldest son said it when I walked in.. my co-worker (who is the only person I get along with) was SO happy for us and the youngest son had the nerve to tell me my ring looked FAKE!
that there's too many diamonds and it's too big (its a little over 3 TOTAL, center stone is 2.19, and there is close to 100 small stones).. I was like, it's ok jeff, you're just jealous because I have an amazing ring and you're 48 and single.

similar situation here. i am pretty quiet about personal stuff anyway. so i didnt even say anything until an office mate noticed my ring at the end of that monday. then tuesday i mentioned it to the secretaries (they are the only girls i work with), so they were excited for me. but since i didnt really go out of my way to tell anyone else, they didnt go out of their way to say anythign either. i think it may be more of a comfort level too...i think if i made a big deal, maybe they would have. but i didnt and they didnt. thats just how it is.
and yes, the first week did suck since it felt like no one cared. meanwhile i am at the office more than anywhere else. so that kinda stunk.

I'm very fortunate in that respect. We have a large office of about 30 people, and we are all pretty tight...it's rare and wonderful. As much as my job gets to me somedays, the people are awesome, and even though we get on one anothers nerves, we all love each other. We are one big disfunctional family! ![]()
When FH and I got engaged I had only been at my job 5 months, and everyone was so excited.

everyone at work congratulated me but i'm at a small company HOWEVER i still never heard congratulations from some family members which i think is worse

I am lucky that I have worked at my job for 10 years..& I also work with my mom who has been there for 26 years! They all knew before me & have been counting down the days!!..
but I do have an Uncle fell off the face of the earth for my whole life & since my grandma passed way decides to make an appearance..anyway aparantly he doenst like my fiance which I couldn't care less but my fiance is the only one that's nice to him!..he knew I got engaged...NEVER said congrats or asked to see the ring but plopped himself at my house all weeked..finally my mom's like 'DID U SHOW UNLCE ***** YOUR RING??'..i was like no..i didn't...even better he thinks his kids are going to be in my bridal party!!!
...at least to get to leave those people soon. I feel so bad you're probably all excited wanting to show it off & I dont blame u for not running up to everyone & throwing it in their faces..who wants people to be fake or forced to congratulate u! That is so rude that they didnt congratualte u! YOur ring sound gorgeous & they're probably jealous of u! Well CONGRATULATIONS!!!..& we all have to ignore such ignorant people!!

everyone at work congratulated me and my office even had mimosas the monday after xmas since half the office wasnt in the friday after xmas.

Seemed like everyone congratulated me - even was receiving emails from our other offices from people I deal with. But then again, I've been with my company for over 8 years so it's like a family.

everyone except one girl did, and i later found out that she hadnt congratulated another girl who got enagged before me because she was jealous lol, some people are so childish

Yessss, my own cousins who I thought I was close to were so fake to me. One of them who I'm really close to gave me a fake congratulations because she was upset it wasn't her getting married (I'm older than her, I've been with my FH for 8 1/2 years and I have a real job and can support myself) and her sister didn't even tell me hello that day. We got engaged on Christmas Eve and I didn't even get a Merry Christmas from her when we announced it to the entire family.
Even my cousin in another state who I'm not close to gave me a huge congratulations. As you can see, I'm still annoyed about it. I'm the first cousin in a huge group of family members to get engaged and you would have thought everyone would be happy we're finally having a wedding in our family. Some people are just bitter and can't be happy for others.

funny you made a thread asking this, cause it seems like everyone has at least that ONE person that is your so called 'friend' or 'relative' that never congratulated you and claims to be a friend and be happy for you, yeahhh righttttttt...
with that said.. every single person in my life and FH's life, friends and family and even strangers and even just 'friends' we considered to just be hello and goodbye friends, friends we never really cared for, called or e-mailed or saw us in person and congratulated us.. now talking about the ONE who did NOT, yet today still shows they are not happy for us and nothing but JEALOUS!!!!!!!!! -- fh's ******* brother and wife... she got pregnant about 6 years ago and they worent married, so when she found out she was pregnant they went and got married by civil and that was it.. and of course they are not happy for us and nothing but JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!! well too bad for them cause it isnt our fault they choose to do things the way they did and not have a wedding celebration.. NOT MY PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! everyday i just laugh about this and i think its very funnyyyyyyyy actually!!!!!!!!!!!! =]

I work with FH and he had a co-worker of ours practically stalking him at one point... she was weird with me before we got engaged and after- she never congratulated either of us (she works with him everyday and is relatively friendly with him) in fact- she told mutual friends that she hates me because she wants my life... ![]()
edit: oh and my mom was apparently screaming when she found out from my dad , but when I called to tell them she said oh that's nice...
