Was conned into getting my brakes done & they sound horrible now.

I went to one of those quickie oil change places and they scared me into getting my brakes done. They said they were really bad. I think they were just looking for some extra $. Anyway, ever since they fixed them, they have been screeching everytime I hit the brakes. I brought them back 3 times. Each time they made up a new story, one more ridiculous than the next. One time they said it must be brake dust & I should hose down my tires.Next time, they said I must have a hole in my vaccuum hose, finally 'i don't hear a thing' excuse.I'm at witts end and don't know what to do. I put a stop payment on my cc and the guy is calling my machine yelling.Help!

Options:

Call and ask to speak to the manager and let him know you are calling the corporate headquarters to register the problem and let them know you are giving him one more chance to correct the problem.

If you've been speaking to the manager, call the corporate headquarters directly and issue your complaint and ask them to get involved with the resolution.

You might also consider having FI/Hubby or a brother or father or car-savvy friend go in with you - sad to say that might get more action if they are able to stand up to this guy a bit more.

Be sure to let them know you'll re-instate payment when the job is completed to your satisfaction and make sure the cc company knows the reason for the dispute so it does not affect your credit.

Good Luck

Re: Was conned into getting my brakes done & they sound horrible now.

The guy that said he thinks its a hose is supposedly the manager. I don't know much about cars, but I know that when I hit my brakes, my hoses under the hood aren't screeching. I feel like I'm out all this money because they're not going to fix it. Whenever I tell them its still making a lot of noise, all the mechanics there insist they don't hear a thing. My neighbors have even made comments about how my car's brakes sound bad. I just want to scream. The mechanic is a lying &*@#!

Re: Was conned into getting my brakes done & they sound horrible now.

I think the idiot who told me it sounded like my vaccuum hose is the manager. I think its just a lost cause. Obviously they used the cheapest brakes and I got ripped off. Don't ever let anyone do any extra service to your car unless its your trusted mechanic NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY.

Re: Was conned into getting my brakes done & they sound horrible now.

How long ago did you get them fixed? The first time I had my brakes done, I was horrified by a screaching sound that was worse than before But then my Dad told me that new brakes screech when they are first put in and that it would go away. It did. If it was a few days ago, I would give it a little time. If not, take your car to another mechanic who is recommended by a friend and see if someone else can find anything wrong. If they do, go back to the first place and tell them you will sue them for negligence if they do not fix the problem pronto! Can you tell what I do for a living

Becky, you're funny. The brakes were done in the end of June. I brought it back 3 times already. the screeching got a little better but its still there.
