I had sent registry cards with my engagement party invite. Now I am thinking that it was so tacky, and my fiance and I really should have not expected a gift, since i am now reading every where that you dont expect gifts for an engagement party. Is this true?

Re: Was I tacky?
I dont think its tacky. My mom was thinking of putting the registry cards in our e-party invites.
I look at it this way, when people dont know what to give they have your registry to fall back on and also see what you like and your taste

I don't necessarily think you were tacky, but I also think that putting registry cards in e-party invites (or announcements) looks like you are expecting gifts. FMIL wanted to send out e-announcements with registry cards and FH and I were adamant absolutely NOT. That's what showers are for, IMO.

Re: Was I tacky?
FH and I weren't going to register until the shower was coming up, but right after we got engaged we were actually HOUNDED by people who wanted to know if we were going to register, and where we were going to register. They all wanted to buy us gifts. After we sent out the e-party invites, we got even MORE people and more questions about where we were registered. So we ran out and make a quick little registry just to keep them quiet! So to answer your question, I don't think it was tacky to send a registry card with your e-party invitations. Although most people give a check.

I would have sent them with the invites to the bridal shower instead. But even still- I wouldn't call it tacky. Now they have something to check if they don't know what to get.

Doesn't sound tacky at all....at least it gives people an idea where your registered if they want to get you something off the registry as a gift.
