Was I wrong?

Was I wrong?

You guys have been giving great advice and I know you;d tell me if I was wrong.

My ex Best Friend (still friends but......

anyways she is having a destination wedding in LA. At first I said I would be a BM but then she insisted that the bridal party would have to stay at her hotel.....its 150-195 a night which meant 2 nights But then I added everything up and decided I could not do it. Call it 300.00 for hotel. Airfare was at least 200, dress, shoes, hair, makeup over 200.00 at least plus wedding gift of course. I told her I would come but not as a Bm but as a guest, stay at a diff hotel (less $$) she got mad and later she fully withdrew from being a BM in my wedding claiming that her Hubby to be did not want to sit alone while she was in my Bridal party.

I really think its because I am not in her wedding. I was a little pissed b/c I was sill going to shell out at least 500 to still b ethere on her day. I am no longer going to her wedding...why should I sacrifce my $$$ is she cant sacrifice a little time apart from hubby.

Re: Was I wong?

i don't think so...
it's alot to go out (espcially if you anit got it)

FW had a problem where the bridal party kept doing this and that...and we didn't have money to pay for it.. Its kinda sad in a way in order to have a good time, you have to spend money.

She is silly...what a bridal party last a few hours... wonder what happens when they do there bridal showers and bachlor(ette) parties

people are silly

Yeah - that seems kind of weird!! I don't understand why you had to stay at a particular hotel??

Re: Was I wrong?

Why would she use such a lame excuse as her hubby will be sitting alone, no one does that anymore. I tell you, sounds like tit for tat. You can't afford something you can't. Don't feel guilty for your decision. You are still supporting her by attending.

I think she is being childish for stepping down from your bridal party. It seems 100% vindictive.

I think she should appreciate your honesty about the wedding expenses being too much and perhaps been more flexible with how you spend your money in travel arrangements. IMO, if you are going to put expectations like that on your closest friends, they should offer to defray some of the costs.

Thats what I think too.
One reason why I did not hav emy wedding in Jamaica as I wanted. It woulda been a heck of alot prettier but alot of my friends could not afford the expense.
