Was this inappropriate?

One of my coworkers was leading a few guests into a conference room and one of them congratulated her on her recent wedding. The other associate said to her 'So is this your first?'

What kind of question is that? That was sooooo inappropriate!!!

Re: Was this inappropriate?

Yes that's pushing it... I can understand the question if it were referring to a pregnancy, not a wedding...or both at the same time.

Re: Was this inappropriate?

That's so funny! I can't believe people - don't they ever think?
When I was looking at a dress for my SIL's wedding at David's Bridal, my DH (FH at the time) was there and was approached but the After hours (or whatever is affiliated) guy to talk about a deal they had. The sales man actually was asking DH if this was his first marriage and told him he was on his 3rd or something We just laughed b/c it was so ridiculous. Way to make the whole thing sound like a good idea

Re: Was this inappropriate?

I would think that inappropriate, yes! A simple 'congratulations' and 'best of luck in the marriage' would more than suffice for business relationship!
