Was your e-ring appraised for more or less than what you/your FI paid?

I (finally) went to get my ring appraised, and was shocked at the price I was given.
. . . Trying to figure out if that price is reflective of what my FI paid (he won't tell me ).

What was your difference between the 2 prices?

it should be appraised for more usually.

My ring cost $3750 and it was appraised for $5400. I would think it should have appraised for more, but what do I know. I was told by the appraiser that the price paid was good.

It should appraise for more, even if it's only slightly more. Did it appraise for much less?

The difference between how much FH paid and when it was appraised, it was valued at double the amount he paid. I also have two friends who's appraisals were also similar in that they were valued at double the price paid. Hope that helps!

put it this way... if it was appraised for LESS i would not go back to that jeweler because HE RIPPED YOU OFFF!!!


the appraisal price is what the ring is actually worth

it should be a couple thousand more if you got a good deal

WHY WOULD YOU BE MAD AT HOW MUCH HE SPENT??? DOES THAT REFLECT YOUR RELATIONSHIP???

FI paid $6K less than the appraised value - $2K less than replacement value appraisal.

It appraised for about $4000 more than what Fh paid. It should ALWAYS appraise for more than what he paid! And just make sure that the appraisal matches the papers so he didn't try to defraud your FH

mine was appraised for 5,000 over what my fi paid for it....

Mine was appraised for over 8K more than FI paid. I would say if a ring appraises for less than you paid, you got robbed, or you paid retail which is the same as getting robbed.

Mine was appraised for much more then my DH paid for it. He actually joke about selling it for the appraisal price.
