Hi - I just starting washing the baby clothes I bought with Dreft.
I was just wondering, when you do your babies laundry do you put fabric softner in the dryer? I didn't, but I was just curious what everyone else does.
Thanks.

Re: washing baby clothes
Fabric softener takes away the flame resistance on some clothes and it is also bad for babys skin (if your baby has sensitive skin). I wouldnt use it.

Re: washing baby clothes
After the baby is born you may need to be careful with the sensitve skin... when Alex was just a few days old he started getting little spots and red patches from where his cheek was on my husbands shirt... we realized when Brian did his laundry he used a different Fabric softener than I was...
If you have an extra rinse cycle I highly recommend using that for your clothes and Babys clothes until babys skin becomes less sensitive!!! Good Luck!

Does anyone else find that Dreft does not get out any spit up/dribble stains? Alot of Matthew's clothes have stains on them already after washing with Dreft.

Re: washing baby clothes
I use Dreft and it gets out just about everything, I think one bib is stained because I forgot it in the pouch of the diaper bag at wash time. So I definitely noticed the longer it sits the more the stain sets.
Stains in general were worse when DS was eating Similac, that stuff really stained. He takes Good Start now and its very light and looks much like breast milk.
Are you FF? Maybe its the type of formula?
ETA: to answer OP.. no, I don't use fabric softener in the washer or dryer for baby's clothes.

Yes, we are using Similac. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to deal with it.

Re: washing baby clothes
I used Dreft in the beginning but I noticed it wasn't taking the stains out either. Amber's over three months old and I put her stuff in with ours now after I discovered my husband (when he'd do the wash) put her stuff in the regular load. He didn't know she had 'special detergent' - men!!! It never hurt her, never had a reaction and the clothes came out cleaner. As long as the baby has no reaction, I don't see the harm of regular detergent - just not fabric softener because it's got a different chemical compound.
