washing dogs

How often do you do it, and do you do it yourself?

Re: washing dogs

We usually do it ourselves.

The pug we wash once a month, but we wash his paws weekly.

The Shiba Inu we *try* to wash once a month, but he gets so incredibly filthy that it usually ends up being more. The only time we do not groom him ourselves is when he is shedding his winter undercoat - we take him to the groomer to brush all that out.

The Chinese Crested we wash weekly, and usually wash her paws daily b/c they are white & get filthy.

The Siberian Husky we have groomed once a season, but we brush her daily.

I have a yorkie puppy and because of his hair I like to bathe him once a week. I comb him out while he is wet - apparently it isn't good for their coat to brush them out when they are dry.

He is funny - he doesn't like the water so much, but he LOVES the hairdryer. :) Just make sure you get them dry quickly so they don't catch pneumonia or something.

I wash Murphy only when he gets really dirty or rolls in something stinky like a worm in the backyard. Jack Russells dont really get doggie-odor.
