Port Jeff CC - Our wedding was incredible!
We got married out on the deck on 9/2/01 and had the most fabulous cocktail hour & reception. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have - I cannot say enough wonderful things about this incredible place!!!! Michele

Waterfront Location - John Anthony`s on the Water
We just got married there, and I have absolutely no regrets about having booked them. The food was absolutely amazing, and so many people, besides complimenting the food, have told us how great their servers were. The prices there are the best around for places of its kind, being on the south shore along the water. You get so much for your money! And they are really good to work with .. always polite and professional. We dropped in on them more than several times, first for us to check it out, then to show it off to friends and family, and never with an appointment. The staff always treated us in that same professional manner, and sometimes even seemed to join in in our enthusiasm at seeing the place just one more time. They have a great view of the Great South Bay, and the Bridges going to Robert Moses. Even after our wedding day, they remain a pleasure. Our photographer offered a 100% weather guarantee, and since it rained all day wedding day, he offered to have outdoor shots done another day. John Anthony`s encouraged us to come down and use their deck! (And there was no fee). You won`t get beautiful gardens at John Anthony`s, but you will no doubt have a great dinner, great service and a wonderful time. As you can tell, I`m really happy they were our choice!

My cousin just got married there and the view was beautiful. The food was not so great, but I don't like food, so I'm not a good judge! :-)

Gurney's Inn in Montauk was fabulous. Right on the ocean. Food was delicious too. The banquet mgr. Ruth Ann was an absolute joy.

I also got married at PJCC on 9-23-01. What a beautiful day we had. I could not say I wasn't satisfied in any way there. Everyone is extremely nice and the food was GREAT!!!! I would recommend them to everyone looking for a waterfront view. Oh and keep in mind, have your wedding during the day, the view is what you want.

Kel: I heard the room setup was a little strange with some tables being practically around a corner. Did you experience anything like that?

No, not at all. We had the upstairs room, and it`s basically a big, spacious rectangle. The dance floor is right in the center. The DJ/Band sets up just to the right when you walk into the room, and the bride and groom sit directly across the dance floor, with the window at the bride`s and groom`s back. The guest tables are on the two sides. I`m trying to think of what the person might have been referring to in telling you about the 'corner' to a room. I do know that when we sat to go over final arrangements, we were told we didn`t need to feel obligated to put a centerpiece on the vendor table (in an effort to keep the room uniform), since the table would be put toward a back corner of the room (near the elevator). However, we did choose to put a centerpiece on their table, and were glad we did, because the vendor table was not where we were told it would be, it was actually very close to the DJ stand near the guest tables. The only other thing I can think of, is that the downstairs room did seem to have a different kind of configuration. I`m not really sure how to discribe the room, because we just loved the upstairs room so much more. In our opinion, the view is better from up there, and the room is more spacious and open. Plus, I didn`t really like that when people walk in through the lobby, they are looking right into that downstairs room. The upstairs just felt more 'private.' The only drawback to having the upstairs room, is that you don`t get use of the deck during the reception, because that goes to the people who book the downstairs. However, if you do book the upstairs room, your cocktair hour is in the lounge, which is off to the left side on the main floor when you walk in, and you do have access to the deck for the cocktail hour. But, depending on the time of year or the weather, this might not matter. Oh, the only other minor concern for us, was that there was only one set of bathrooms, and they were on the main floor, so our guests had to go downstairs. But, this didn`t seem to be a problem at all. Again, if anything, that just leads to more traffic outside the downstairs room, giving it a less private feel than the upstairs. If you haven`t already, take a look at their website. The upstairs room is call the 'Majestic Bay Room,' and they have pictures of it. The pictures of the Ocean Room aren`t up and running yet. Just a couple of notes .. we didn`t know they were going to put chair covers on all the chairs, and thought that was a special touch. You`ll see in pictures, there are no covers on the chairs. Also, the wall decorations have changed .. but nothing that would make you take notice that it`s a bad change .. if you know what I mean. They have gone through major renovations there, and everything has turned out beautiful. And you certainly can`t go wrong with their food. http://www.johnanthonys.com http://www.johnanthonys.com/MajesticBayRoom.htm

Kel...you took the words right out of my mouth!!! I believe it's the downstairs roon that has the weird configuration. There is an extra space by their stationary bar which is away from everything and they probably put tables there when it's a large party. We also had the same experience with the shair coverings! When we booked them we were told that the chair coverings were an extra cost and when we did our finals we didn't ask for them ... but when we walked into the room they were there! They also put candles (tapers) on the tables which were supposed to be an extra cost as well! Come to think of it...i never saw a vendor table all night!!! and if i recall correctly it was in the back behind the curtains (i think)! They never said anything to us about a centerpiece for the vendor table so it never crossed my mind! but I really don't remember seeing one!

Chair covers were never mentioned to us at all, and we had never asked about them. Imagine my delite when I noticed all the chairs covered!! That was basically the one thing we didn`t like about the room .. those chairs!! The covers certainly were a nice touch. I would hope if they decide not to do chair covers anymore, they would replace and upgrade to better looking chairs! :) We didn`t get taper candles though. :( Lucky you! LOL

The one thing that we didn't like though were the chairs that we got to sit in up at our dais!!! Don't get me wrong...they were comfortable! But you just sank down into them and when your wearing such a contraption like a wedding dress with all the gear on underneath it's not exactly great! Once we sat in them we didn't wanna get up! Regardless though...we hardly sat all night!!! ;)Welcome New Vendors
