Watermill for Small Wedding

Watermill for Small Wedding

Hi everyone,

My fiance and I are seriously considering the Watermill in Smithtown for our wedding, but I have a few concerns... we're the 'small' wedding with only 50-75 people so we'd be getting the later chapel time if we did a night wedding and the teeny tiny bridal suite (for my bridal part of 7!) We fell in love with the charm of the place and its affordable rates, but were disappointed to learn that they do not offer a Chuppah... problematic for a Jewish ceremony :(

They've cut their prices, making them very appealing for our budget, but I feel like certain things are missing... no desserts other than the cake, no cordial bar, fewer food options, etc.

So, my question to all of you is... thoughts? Has anyone been to a small wedding or had a small wedding at the Watermill? My fiance is pretty happy with it, and I really love it too but I'm wondering if we should keep shopping around. I know we won't beat the rate but maybe we'll find for slightly more money more of what we're looking for...

(Another top contender is Westbury Manor.)

Thanks in advance for your responses! I'll take all the help I can get :P

Have you looked at East Wind? Clearly I am partial but they are extremely negotiable. My FH's cousin is getting married there but we seemed to have gotten a better rate with more stuff. If they cannot supply you with that you need, I would continue to look. There is def someone out there that will be willing to give you everything!

I had a full ice cream sundae bar and a cordial bar.... I loved watermill...the look, the food, everything :) I had a larger wedding but I still think if you speak to hem about the things you want you may be able to get them

we're booked at the Watermill..lager than what you are looking for ..we're looking at 100 min and they were great with bargaining..
we also looked at Westbury and after our 2nd visit we only found out that they were going to stick us in the restaurant for the inside cocktail hour..they was no way we were going to fit 100 people in there and that was cause we were the smaller party..a big turn off on our end...

We're booked in the big room for our wedding, which was disappointing since their smaller wedding cocktail room is so nice! And definitely negotiate in more desserts and/or the cordial bar. They are always more willing to negotiate services than price. Also, check with your florist about the chuppah!

You never know you may get a better rate some where else. If you really liked them I would go to them and tell them the things that are holding you back from booking. They maybe winning to work with you. Remember this is your big day and it has to be right for you and your fh.

I would definitely tell them the things that concern you, but I would also shop around for a couple reasons. 1, so that you can tell Watermill what someone else is going to give you for your money, and 2, just so that you can see other places. Heck, you might even like another place better!

I am biased, but if you want a place all to yourself for such a small wedding I would try The WaterView Club. Shameless promoting for my RH but so far I have been very happy with them. They have a 100 person min for Saturdays, but I am having 65-75 people on a Sunday and I got a fantastic price, especially since I have the hall pretty much all day so I could schedule the wedding however I wanted it :)
