Wax Seals

Wax Seals

Hi!

I just got my seal and faux wax in the mail. It's a simple round monogram with our initials 'A&T' and we are using the silver fauxwax.

FH and I were playing with it over the weekend and had a lot of trouble with the seal sticking so that when you pulled it off it was ripping off from the paper. I'm concerned its going to rip my enevelopes.

Anyone doing this? Any tips? Problems?

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks in advance!

Re: Wax Seals

what if you sprayed the tip of the seal with a cooking spray before making the impression?

I've read that you should keep the seal on ice...blot before using...and this should help each time.

Sounds like your wax isnt hot enough or too hot The temperature has to be just right in order for them to come out the BEST...

Re: Wax Seals

The place recommended we just use a mini-glue gun. But that doesn't have anything that controls temperature. It's either on or off.

You have to place the seal on ice right before making the impression. So you put the seal on the ice cube, put the wax on the envelope, then wipe off the water from the seal and make the impression. If it sticks, leave it there and wait a little.

Also consider getting a quick release sheet and making them all at once, then using krazy glue to stick them to the envelopes. That's what I did.

You definitely need to chill it on ice after every impression you make.

go to fauxwax.com and read the directions there.

I had the same problem -- freezing it helps!

This is exactly right. I also used a quick release pad, but to attach them to the envelopes I used another dab of hot glue on the back of the seal. This worked great!
I also used a bowl of ice water- it worked easier than the cube.

Re: Wax Seals

Thanks for the help everyone!!! FH liked doing this, so I'm thinking I'll get the nonstick pad, and set him up with the bowl of ice water and get him to create all I need ahead of time and then just glue them on when the invites are done.

You guys are awesome! Thanks!
