I'm going out to do some shopping today and I want to check out wax seals for my invites. Any feedback on how these hold up in the mail? I thought it might be a nice final touch on my invites but I don't want them to look like garbage when people get them! TIA!

Re: Wax Seals? Do they get ruined in the mail?
yes, they do get ruined. I did them on my thank you cards and they got destroyed.
Also, when I dropped them off at the post office, the clerk told that that they might not accept them anymore for mailing

None of mine did - that I heard of. I mailed one to myself and it was fine. I asked everyone that has called and theirs were fine as well.

If you are having a double envelope, maybe consider doing them on the inside liner envelope...
Just a suggestion...

If it only traveled through 1 post office (your hometown) it should be fine.
The handful of people who lived in my town got them in perfect condition, but that's because I hand cancelled them and they went right out with the mail person. If they have to travel to other destinations, they'll get ruined.

i believe these kind of wax seals are a little easier to send in the mail--as well as handle...since they are glue gun seals:

My parents invite went from LI to SC with no problem. Maybe we just used different kinds?

jcp1125 used wax seals from old school seal and they were fine. they had so problems whatsoever. it may just be the type of wax you are using.

We did wax stamps and from what I saw, they looked perfect when they arrived at people's houses.

Like Angnick said....we had no problems ...maybe because we used the glue stick type of wax...it comes out more like a rubber than a hard wax that cracks....Old School Seals. com sells them and the seal I bought.....Im hoping to use them again for our thank you cards

My FSIL used them and they ran through the machine even though she said hand cancel and they opened up and at least 5 were missing the RVSP sets and the people didnt think they were invited to the wedding and only the church so be careful when mailing.

Did they say why they may not be accepting them? This is interesting!

mine didn't get ruined - we put them on the inner envelope of the two envelopes - mine had to go all over the us -
