I'm considering getting my legs waxed and figured I should do it very soon before the warm weather really comes and stays. How long do I need to grow my leg hair out? My FI will not be happy about this, but that's too bad! But since I'm having my wisdom teeth removed tomorrow, I figured that I'm not going to be in the mood for anything so I'll become hairy during this time. How would you compare the pain factor of leg waxing (professionally done) to eyebrow waxing? Also, the woman who did my eyebrows said that having the eyebrows waxed is a bit more painful than a bikini wax. How true it that?? I don't know about you, but I'm a bit more sensitive in the bikini area than I am in the eyebrow region.

Re: Waxing
i want to get my legs waxed too!!!! i was going to try it soon, and then if i liked it, do it for the HM!! i've never done it before, so i'm nervous, and FI isn't thrilled with me not shaving my legs for 10-14 days
i've had 4-5 bikini waxes in my time. i don't find the pain unbearable. i think the key is to go to somebody who really knows their stuff, can keep you chatting away, etc.
edited to say: i don't think the pain is worse than an eyebrow wax, there's just more pulling going on. where they can do the eyebrows in 1-2 swipes, it takes considerably more to do the bikini area.

Re: Waxing
I've wanted to do a leg wax for a long, long time but was too scared. Something came over me today and now I feel ready to take this next step in the world of waxing. I would do it today but my leg hair is too short (FI would strongly disagree with this statement). I'll give you a report when I do it next week. Now I need the guts to do a bikini wax - and no, I'm NOT doing a Brazilian wax yet!!!

Re: Waxing
I'll be honest with you, it all depends on the wax that gets used.... I recently started going to visit Yabbobay's DH's aunt and she uses a lavendar wax - almost totally w/o pain - for everything!!!!!!!!!

Re: Waxing
I finally got the nerve to get a bikini wax right before the wedding. I went to the salon where I get my hair done b/c teh waxer there is well know in our area. She did a gret job and to tell you the truth it wasn't as bad as I thought. Its hurst for a few minutes after but then you have a really nice bikin line. I am going to go again next week to do it again.

Re: Waxing
I had my legs wax last year before our wedding. I don't mean to scare you, but I think my legs hurt the most out of everything, especially my shins (sp?). But it was so worth it not to have to shave while on our honeymoon. I've had just about everything waxed (eyebrows, underarms, bikini, and brazilian), and I would agree the eyebrows are more sensitive than the bikini area. I think it has to do with the thickness of the skin in the area, which would explain the painful shins. I haven't really paid attention to the types of waxes though so I can't speak to that. The woman who did my legs said 2 weeks growth on your legs is sufficient. I've also got my hands on a prescription for a sort of numbing cream, that has been a big help for those times I didn't quite feel up to the full experience. It's called Emla. Maybe you can try and get a prescription? My general doctor wouldn't give it to me, but my GYN did :)
Totally worth it though!

Re: Waxing
I recently got a Emolj hair remover, its like waxing as it pulls the hair out at the root. It is a little like the Epilady, but much less painful. I am SO happy w. it, the hair grows in so much slower and is finer. I use it about once every 7-10 days. It is painful the first time, but you do get used to it, and for me it casused less irritation than waxing my legs did. I got it at Sharper Image.
