Waxing or Threading

Waxing or Threading

I have seen people getting threaded at the mall but have never gotten it done. Does it hurt? Which is better threading or waxing? I have no clue which to do. TIA

I have never gotten it done but I heard it actually doesn't hurt as much as waxing.

I prefer waxing, I tried threading and it hurt me more than waxing.

I tired threading and don't remember there being much of a pain difference. I still do waxing though - I'm used to it.

I get threaded, I refuse to get waxed anymore, its not 'healthy' for the skin. threading DOES hurt, the first time and if you skip a week (you go every 2 weeks) and let the hair grow in. I've been doing it for years. Honestly, give it a shot or two at first it s u c ks but after a while you just get used to it.
I wouldn't suggest going to the mall as they are usually over-priced. There are several places on long island that do it and its cheaper then waxing.

I thread all the time!!! and I love it!!!

It depends on your pain tolerance! To me, it does not hurt at all.

Do not get threaded at any mall. They charge more than going to a salon and don't do as good of a job.

Depending where in LI you live, I can recommend a couple of places f you are interested.

Never been waxed... only threaded and i love how it comes out... if you find the right person, its very quick and plainless... with a bad person, im in tears... so it all depends... dont go to the mall... they charge double the price...

I also get threaded and i have an extremely low pain tolerance! the first time it hurt a lot worse than all the times after that. But i do agree if you let it go longer, it hurts a little more. But the good people are done in under 2 minutes so its a very very short experience!!

I've been doing threading for years and don't find it painful at all. Not for eyebrows at least. Upper lip can hurt a lot at first, but that's just a sensitive area.

I always used to go get my threading done in the city -- there's a place on 7th Avenue between 34th & 35th st (upstairs, across the street from Macy's) that's GREAT and really inexpensive. Very quick run upstairs from Penn Station.

I only have to get my eyebrows done every two months if I do a very minor bit of self-tweezing maintenance in between. It's really great!

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

I've been having the same question and completely tossing between waxing and threading. My skin is very sensitive and I've never been able to wax (although, the lady does my nails tells me that she has wax for sensitive skin).... I REALLY don't know what to do either!!!!

I just made my decision! And I'm going to Artie @ Red Door once these 'bad boys' are grown in! Another bride on here recommended her and I saw a picture of her.... they had a real nice shape!!!!

Right now I am on a waxing kick but I go back and forth between threading and waxing. Threading hurts a little but no more than waxing once you get use to it. Not sure if I would have threading done in the middle of the mall... For threading I got to Christie's in Bayside or Rani salons that having been poppling up all over the place.

I tried it once and I hated it!! It hurt so much.

I will admit- it looked better and lasted longer. But I dont think I could bear the pain again! (although I've been told it hurts less the more you do it)

I have given up on waxing and have been getting threaded for years. i believe that a lot of waxing salons are unsanitary cause they sometimes use the same stick on everyone to wax.

With threading, I have noticed that it does not leave skin red and tight like waxing does. Hopes this helps..

Re: Waxing or Threading

definitely threading!! it doesn't hurt as much and it is way more accurate. They can choose the hairs that they're pulling out as accurate as when you're tweezing. They can't do that with wax. I've had 2 major mess-ups when I've gotten my eyebrows waxed (one right before my jr prom) and I will never get them waxed again.
