ways to cut costs for the wedding

i know it's a little after the fact, but i'm trying to think of ways to cut some costs for the wedding

any quick ideas?

i've decided today we're not going to do favors and i don't think that's a travesty - we're having a VH so i might do take out boxes, but that's it.

anything else?

I'm DIY-ing anything I can--programs, STD's, menus, cardbox, and invites (which I'm a little nervous about, but I know I can do it!)

But I think that's prob the obvious ones. I know 1 of my MOH booked her photographer and videographer together and got a deal for doing both with the same company.

I am using Sandra Baldini (I think you are too!) And her makeup prices are very reasonable.

I bought a headpiece from another bride on here I think buying used stuff is a good money-saving idea.

i'm DIYing as much as I can too, but i'm not really sure how much money it's going to save. Here are a few things you can probably do without (IMO):

- programs
- bathroom basket (s)
- flip flop basket (not sure if you were planning on doing this)
- gifts for parents (unless they are paying for the full wedding)
- shuttle transportation for guests to/from hotel
entrance flowers
- sweetheart table flowers (just use your BMs bouquets)
- cake upgrades (especially if you're doing a VH)

That's all i can think of right now... HTH!!

Do it yourself, and dont be afraid to leave things out. make the day yours... You dont have to do what everyone else does

Thanks guys! These are great ideas.

I can definitely do without parent gifts and the flip flop basket. Programs I'm DIYing with a kit that I already bought from Michaels so I'm not worried about that. I was going to rent a big seating scroll, but now i'm thinking of doing my own, and worst case scenario, i could always use the escort cards that CHCC provides me with.

thanks again $100 here or there definitely can help in the long run!

agree with the other girls - DIY as much as possible. It's a little extra work for you but in the long run it def. saves you some money.

Really look at what you are planning on doing (as far as little extras) and decide if they are really worth it or not.

I think giving the boxes for VH for people to take stuff home is perfectly fine in lieu of a favor.

instead of the huge photo montage that u have to pay the dj for we are using digital pictures frames that are doubling as gifts for the parents.

Honestly, we cut 30 minutes from our reception! I really don't think anyone is going to care

I know you had wanted to do bath room baskets but i wouldnt. i went to crest hollow the other day . they dont have the baskets but they do have pads and tampoons in a basket LOL

dont do oot guest bags
Look for sales before you buy your bp gifts ( i got mine from Macys with a 30% off coupon and saved my self a lot of money)
