Why am I crying at my desk listening to We Are the World?
I remember I was eight years old when this song came out. I remember singing it with friends.
I never thought much of it back then, but today I am crying as I listen to it.

I just posted the same. It was making me laugh, actually- I am not sure why. . .

I think it's kind of a crock because I read 'some' of the proceeds are going towards the tsunami. Why isn't all of it going towards it? I hate that because it could be only 20% that's going towards it, for all you know.

As a kid, the song always made me laugh. It was kind of hokey, cheesey. We mock sang it a lot. Today I got goosebumps and cried. Maybe because of the fact that I remember watching the video for it. So much has changed in the world...

I think its horribly sad that this song was made 20 years ago for children in Africa..20 years ago..and not much has changed over there. they are still stariving and dying from famine and disease and its just so sad. Not just in Africa, but in so many countries now. Its heart breaking. I am partial because of my boys in Ethiopia, but when I hear stories of what those children have lived through..its so upsetting. Both of my boys lost their parents to AIDS, from faulty blood transfusuions, whch spread to the spouse and then one of my boys' little brother is dying of AIDS now, because his mother had the AIDS when she got pregnant with his baby brother. They have no running water, for many of them, they are better off in the orphanage, where it is still extremely filfthy, but atleast they can eat there. The famine, disease and poverty has caused the average life span in Ethiopia to be around 35! Thats it. Tuberculosis is rampid over there as well. I think one out of three children will die. I wish they would give 100% of the proceeds of that song to the Tsunami victims and to Africa. Its so sad

They can't do 100% proceeds because the artists need to make a profit too. Im sorry but no celebrity actually donates their time. They like to see the $$ too. Its all messed up!

I thought when the celebrities did the TV thing for Sept. 11, they made no money off of it?
