we are tired! went on my big WEDDING VENDOR SEARCH with FH!

Went to go see a few DJ's and photogs today and WHEW, We are TIRED!

But I think we may have narrowed down somethings! Yay!!! I'm on my way to actually BOOKING something!

who did you see on your vendor tour today??

Ok, so FH didn't let me post all the info last night cause he was complaining. Sorry about the tease! Went to see Energy Entertainment, Bravura, Silver Fox and Body Rock.

They all did great presentations. We are conflicted on what we want out of a DJ...Of course, I like all of the hoopla but he wants just a good DJ/MC and awesome Sinatra Singer.

I loved Bravura - Tony was really great. Prices are a lot more than what I want to spend of course (isn't that always the case!). Body Rock and Energy also did great....and have great 'Sinatra' singers.

But I think we shall continue on in our quest.

In terms of photo - I think we are done... I think we may be booking Silver Fox. They did a great job (John), calmed my fears of customer service issues and weren't pushy. FH hates the pushy attitude (I don't mind it - I like it actually), but Silver Fox was great.

The funny part is, when I called and talked to one of the assistants, he mentioned that I would probably work well with DON. Then when you go, John (owner) gives you a bunch of books and tells you to stack the ones you liked. We loved two books. He comes in and says, well, I think we found your photographer. Both of those books were done with DON. He had no way of knowing, and neither did we, that that was Don's work.

Best part is that he lives in Queens so it would be easy for us to go to Whitestone Bridge to take eng. shots this spring. The cost includes the eng. portrait (CD of images plus a couple of reprints), all proofs, CD of images, pics uploaded to their website so fam can buy the pictures and I can make a slideshow (and email it out!). All of 1400. If you want a book, the rates you get are TODAY'S rates, which make me happier. You get the photog. for 12 hours...and he said that he can split time to go to Frank's room or at the church for a little 'before' shots. All in all, it was great. The video is amazing there too, but out of my price range.

Ok, so that's the story.

And no, FH didn't kill me but there were definite times of frustration (bad directions)!

We also stopped at the Wingate in Garden City to see one room and they were having wine tasting! Yum!!!

I've seen them all before when I visited with my mom. This time, we only saw the king bed room.

I think it's nice. It's not THAT close to FT and I think the current cost is outrageous. But I like the surroundings, and I like that there is the bar they open up and the breakfast.

I'm going to look around some more too.

Sounds good...Did you have to make an appointment to go see the rooms at the Wingate??? this is one of the reason's why we might got with the Marriott...The distance is the same & at that point, why not use somewhere that we know the service & quality is nice....

yay Leese. That sounds great. I'm going to see Silverfox as well. I heard great things about them and John was really nice on the phone. I agree... not pushy at all.

We saw silverfox yesterday too! What time were you there? I think we are going to go with them. I was blown away by their video. Honestly, their prices were pretty comparable to the other photographers we had seen. Lisa, where else are you going to look for video?
I know what you mean about Bravura, we wound up adding on a lot of extra stuff and spending A LOT more than I had planned. But we both liked how we could get the combination of live music with the DJ, especially since a good band was out of our budget. The prices didn't seem too high if you just kept it to DJ/MC and male singer. I also liked how they had samples of all their people. We asked about the singer at another DJ and they were like 'yeah,we have one' but didn't have any tapes or anything of him.

Kissy:
I just went in - but I think it's better to make an appt. FH wants to back in to see the bridal suites. I think his mom and he will get regular rooms the night before, and then switch into the bridal suite the morning of the wedding (I heard that they will even move your stuff for you and take care of that). FM me because I have further info for you.

Lauren:
I was there...geez, the whol day is a blur... I was there around 4ish. I agree, the video is great. But it's out of my price range. I'm thinking of using Timeless Treasures, although all I have from him is a 3 minute compilation demo...and I really need more like a full wedding video to see. I have to go and see it myself.


It was a really productive day, but whoever said it would be too much...you were right!
(ps - ugh, I hate when LIWeddings is not working! booooo)

Sounds like you guys had a very productive day...and tiring...at least now you're that much closer to making final decisions...Congratulations
