I'm so excited - we booked our band today! Woo-hoo! Another huge item to cross off the list! We are using NYC Swing and can't wait to dance the night away at our wedding! (We're having a swing-themed wedding, so NYC Swing was perfect for us!)
Now it's onto photographers! FH and I narrowed down a huge list of possibilities to 5: 1) Something in Blue 2) Imagine Studios 3) Mark Kauffman 4) Verdi 5) Duet We're looking for a photographer who can do creative yet natural looking portraits, as well as photojournalistic work - with both color and black and white shots. I really want to find a photographer who can capture the emotions and feelings of our day.
If you have any comments/suggestions on photographers that you would like to share - I'd love to hear them!

Congratulations! Getting the band is huge!
We actually just booked our photographer today and it is such an amazing feeling!!! We booked DUET for photos & video and are so excited! We looked at a few and felt like DUET had exactally what we wanted for an amazing price! From what I have seen of their work, they are great at taking candids and posed photographs and they are very natural looking! Littlecat used them and has her proofs on here- you should do a search for her and look at them.
Good luck! Mindy

Thanks for your kind congrats, ladies! It is such a GREAT feeling to cross another item off the list of to-do's! The band is one of our highest priorities; it took us soo long to make a decision. I'm so glad that we have finally booked our band!! Now I can't wait to cross more off my list!
And thank you for the photographer info - keep it coming! After I meet with our list of 'finalists' I will very likely take you up on your FM offers to get more info! Thank you!!

we visited duet and loved their style and great price but we had our site set on imagine studios. they are a little more pricey but worth it. they focus on photojournalism and capture great traditional as well. we fell in love with them.

Re: We Booked Our Band! Onto Photographers!
Congrats on booking NYC Swing. They played at my sisters wedding, Steve is a wonderful guy to deal with and a pleasure. Dore (the Trumpet Player is amazing).
Anyway, I'm using Gary Kane of 'A Fashionable Event' I noiticed not many have used him on this site but his work was/is amazing. He's also a friend of Steve's. He has a website
afashionableevent.com
If he's not to your liking, when my FH and I went looking we also loved BrettMatthews work. They are located in Roslyn. We've seen JoVon's but over all couldn't stand the staff there....and one downfall with that place was they (JoVon) would never show you full weddings....always a collection of different brides. When we asked to see proofs from a recent wedding, they got insulted and quickly got cold. So, my two pics:

Congrats on the band! It is great to get a major vendor crossed off your list. I am using Mark Kauffman for photography. He is great to work with. And his work is stunning.
