WE DO letters help..............

Okay so I repainted my we do letters and am getting ready to put crystals on them............What is the best, easiest way to glue them on? I have a glue gun, Should I even attempt that or you think that would be too messy?
Please help ladies!?!?

ETA.....if i want the letters to shine, what can I use and where can I get it?
