we finally got to see our apartment! ... and i have a question about paint colors

we are going to be living in my FH's sister's basement (they dont live in that house they rent it out) and we finally got to see it (bc the guy who was living there moved out) i like it ... its small but it will be ours and that feels good.

but i have a question ... the cabinets are a light gray almost white color formica with white frige and stove ... what color table should i get? white? i LOVE dark wood but i guess that woudnt match. I also want to get a hutch to match and for some extra storage ... AND i dont know what color to paint the walls . i wanted to paint them some kind of deep red/burgandy butttt now with the white i dont know if it will really match. what do you think?

If it's small, I would stick to the lighter colors. Darker colors tend to make things seem smaller and more closed in...

What about a Tuscany gold? My mom had her kitchen redone about 2 years ago and the designer she hired did a mustardy-gold color wall paint with a deep burgandy sponge paint speckle treatment over it. It sounds gross but it looks amazing. This way you get the dark red you wanted but it's not as severe...

The look the designer and my mom were specifically going for was a Tuscany kitchen. Her kitchen is incredible now. She accented it with burgandy dish towels, curtains and decorative touches.

And I have to say, when I go over there it does remind me of when I was in Italy.............
