We got a little puppy!

We got a little puppy!

We bought a little black and white Shih-Tzu named Ralphie on Saturday. He is nine weeks old and absolutely adorable. It's a bit messy traiing him-but we expected that. Last night, he started having a bit of 'diarhea' with a little bit of blood in it. So, we took him to the Emergency animal hospital. They said he was fine. But, he still has a bit of diarhea today. They said it may be from getting used to new food and even from stealing tastes of our cat Lucy's food. Any other ideas? We are going to the regular vet tomorrow.

I have a 12 year old shih tzu and he still steals cat food when he gets the chance (like when he is over my FMIL's house) and he gets diarrhea from it also!

Congrats on getting your dog! Shihtzus are gteat dogs

Congrats on ur new puppy!

My DH and I are Shih-Tzu fans. We have 2---Marshall who is six and Mandy who is 4. They are just so loving--not to mention so adorable. Marshall is (was) a very picky eater. When we first got him, he refused to eat anything and became hypoglycemic. We searched high and low for something that he would eat and he started to favor cat food, but we eventually found that he also liked Cesar's brand dog food and that is all he'll eat now.

Good luck!!

What did the ER say the reason was for the blood in the stool?

Adorable pictures! I definently made the right choice. They didn't give us a definitive answer for the blood. They tested it for parasites and there were none. I'm anxious to go to the vet tomorrow!

I don't know about for a puppy but when our dogs have issues we usually give them some rice to bind them ...
