We got C-listed to a wedding tonight. A couple couldn't make it to the wedding and we were called yesterday saying they forgot to invite us. Its at the Thatched Cottage. I have never been there, anyone have some info on the place or does anyone want me to check anything out while I'm there.

how rude!! But I do have to say Thatched cottage is BEAUTIFUL!! and the food is great!!! I went to FeliciaDa's wedding there in July and it was the best wedding I have ever been to! I even recomended the place to my fsil when she got engaged last month! I would have booked there if I had seen it first! lol

I have been asked the day before. Well 2 days before I was told I was welcome to go to the ceremony but they were having a very small weddings with just family and a few friends. Being that I only new her from work and spending Tuesday lunches with her, I was not upset. So I was happy to just go to the ceremony.
The next day she called and said the her friend has surgery and could not come to the wedding and would I like to. Honestly, with all the people she spends time with at work, I was suprised she called me. So I was very excited.
FH and I had a good time.

Darcy, I think that is more respectable. She was honest with you that someone else cancelled and she wanted you to fill the space.
Calling the day before and saying, 'oops, we lost your invite ... do you want to come to our wedding?' is cheesy.

I really do not think that that was rude of her. She told you the truth. I am going thru this now. My list is so large I really could not invite people I wanted to so I am sending some really late invites out with a note. Hey if they want to come they will.

I have to say that just 2 days ago I realized that I didn't invite a friend's brother and his girlfriend. I am not close with them, but I like them a lot and other members of my friend's family are coming.
How did I forget him? I have no idea. Honestly. So I am going to call him and tell him that I am so embarrassed that I forgot him but I would love to have him come if he can. No gifts, just their company. So I do think it can happen, but it is best to be honest about the circumstances.

I would go and have a great time! You definately don't have to give a gift ... maybe just a card. Look at it as an opportunity to see someone else's wedding and what you would or wounldn't do. The Thatched Cottage is in a beautiful location too!
