We got our first kitten

shes the cutest thing ever!!!! but she wants to play at night! is that usual? she kept meowing all night and wouldn't sleep! any suggestions on how to get the kitty on a regular schedule??

Our cat Joe loves to meow at night. The first month we had him he had us up all night. The only thing that seems to work with him is squirting him with a water bottle. He stops what he is doing even if I pick the bottle up and show it to him. On occasion he does get squirted with the water. Good luck and enjoy your new kitty.

thanks for the advice! we arent sure if we should keep her in the bedroom with us at night or what! we're so new to this! i always grew up with dogs!

I would definitely keep her in the bedroom with you. She must get lonely and cry when she isn't in there. We got two, as you can see to the left and one of them was such a good boy and the other would hop on the bed at 2:30 am every night and start biting and playing with my hair/head. I had to kick them out (couldn't kick out just one) and lock the door and the good one kept crying and scratching at the door, so i felt so bad. I tried leaving just one out, but I could hear him run and charge into the door. My little nuggets... He got over the head thing and it is great now. But anytime we locked them out of hte room, day or night they'd start to cry. I would let her stay in the room. PICTURES!!!!

thanks tp... i appreciate the advice!!! now im a nervous wrek as to what the apt will look like when i get home from work tonight!!!! hopefully she'll be a good little kitty! any other advice for me?? ive always had dogs, so this is all new to me!! when she cries outside the bedroom, its like she lures you out, and then pounces and wants to play! im running on like 3 hours sleep cause of the little angel!

Isn't it the best though! That's so sweet, she loves you guys. I bet you she'll be sleeping all day. My guys are a little over a year now and they sleep when we aren't home. They still greet me at the door every time I come home with their eyes half open. Oh, here is some advice - make sure you tie up any strings, like curtain strings. The other day I heard a squeak (Luke can't meow good) and it looked like Dexter tied him up! He was all tangled. Things like that...but they can get themselves out of situations, they are very bendable. My guys sleep with us at night now and play in the morning when FH gets up for work at 4 am, (I hear the kitchen chairs move from them running into them) then they eat and come back into bed with me. They are so cuddly and soft! But in the morning Luke sneaks under the covers and nibbles on my legs. i think it's kisses. You are going to love her. What is her name and what does she look like? How old is she?

Thanks again tp!!! shes great! just a little crazy!!! she is 14 weeks old. we got her from Bide-a-wee and named her Bocci. Shes either a tortise or a calico. we heard different opinions on it. but shes great. i'm just hoping she doesn't sleep too much during the day and wants to be up and party all night long! both my husband and i go to bed around 11 and get up around 6am. I'm gone from 8am till about 6:30 pm. Just a little nervous what the house will look like!!!! Yours are such cuties :)

We just got our first cat too!! I have only had a dog and thought I could only be a dog person...but I have to say Misha is winning me over. She is almost a year old so I can't help you with kitten issues...but my girl is so scared she does not want to come out from under my bed!! I have faith though!!! Good luck to you !!
