Just an update from the post of 6 weeks ago when I said we ordered our passports EXACTLY six weeks before our trip to the Bahamas - We received them TODAY, four days before our trip! LOL Better late than never . . .

PS: You don't need a passport for the Bahamas yet, but soon, you will need one! Actually you will need a passport for anywhere in the Carribean, Mexico, and even Canada... Just in case any of you want to get ahead of the game and get one now . . . I'm not sure exactly when the new requirements take effect, but you can find out online - I'm pretty sure it's some time next year.

I have to say, they actually gave us a hard time when we went for our HM last January....we went to Freeport first (by plane) and we showed our photo IDs & they asked for Passports. It is a good thing we had them!

I am glad that I had my passports rushed. I guess six weeks really means six weeks.

I've actually heard things have already gotten a lot more stringent - that's why I thought we should order them and have them for this trip . . .

I saw a sign about that when I was coming hoem from Cananda in April. I am going back in July. I have one, but in my maiden name. It worked ok, last time, with my license as additional ID, but I may just book the ticket in my maiden name this time.

I have 6 weeks too, but I am afraid I won't have your luck

Have a great trip!

well, you could definitely do it in time... you have a few options.
1. you can get the passport in person, same-day if you go to the city to do it.
2. you can do the regular process and have it expedited (for a fee). If you do that you get it really quickly.
3. It asks you for the date of your trip on the passport application. When we applied, the clerk of court told us not to worry about expediting it, and that they usually send it by the date you put down, as long as it is at least 6 weeks in advance.
GOOD LUCK!
