We got our Post Assignment UPDATED AGAIN!!!!!

2nd UPDATE: FH received an email back from a guy who got Fort Cambell, KY (which was our original 3rd choice!!!!!) who wants to swap with us. We're soooo excited and FH is in such a great mood now. They're going to start the paperwork tomorrow and hopefully it will all be sorted out within the week! Thank you all for your prayers -- it seems like it worked!!!!

FH is in the military and we just found out today where we'll be stationned for the next 4 years. We were really parying for our top 3 choices (NC, Colorado, or Kentucky). We found out this morning that we got Fort Hood, Texas I'm actually not too upset -- I figured thats the Army -- unpredictable. But FH is beside himself. He's soooo disappointed. He doesnt like the base, he doesnt like the unit he'll be assigned to, and he's not happy about how far it is from our families. I tried to show him how to look on the bright side of it, but to be honest, he's just not able to let it go.

All we can hope for is that later this summer someone will 'swap' with us and maybe we'll end up in NC afterall.

UPDATE: FH was able to get all the email addresses of Infantry soldiers commissioning the same date as him. He's emailing them all now to see if any of them want to swap posts. We sat down and determined that we would be happy with ANYTHING on the East coast just to be a little closer to our families. Please pray for us that someone will be willing to swap

Awww Jenn I'm so sorry- I remember how much this meant to you! You have a great attitude about it though, and I'm sure FH will come around- you'll learn to start a new life there and you may end up loving it! Good luck!!!

He probably has to wait until Office Basic Course (which wont be until around January) before he can see if anyone wants to swap with him. The problem is that its not very likely that anyone will want to trade Fort Hood for Fort Bragg, NC. NC is one of the more requested posts

I just hope he will get over it soon -- he's just so depressed.

Awww, I'm sorry. I hope that by the positive attitude you have, your FH will feel a little better.

I had a former student who was stationed at Fort Hood for a while, and he said it wasn't that bad...and the food was better than the dining hall food on campus!

He may end up liking TX....?

thats what I said to him! I tried to cheer him up by saying that at least we'll be together -- no matter where we are we;ll be together and thats what matters. But he's not thinking rationally yet

I am so sorry he is upset...but CO is further from your families! I hope it all ends up working out for you!

just found out my sister and bro in law are being sent to fort reilly KS in July but it was the better alternative bc hes upstate at drum right now, he just got back from afghanistan for the second time and they were going to send him right back in a year...or to iraq. he may have a LITTLE more time before deploying since theyre going to KS now. of course hes okay with it, its what he signed up for but we're really sad bc KS is really far for a closeknit fam! prayers for you and all our troops!
