We got to spend the night in the hospital...

We got to spend the night in the hospital...

It was horrible! I ended up having to take Caiden to the ER last night because of his breathing, and coughing. He started out with a cold and cough the beginning of the week, and it just got worse. He also had a fever of 103.4 and 103.0 for a couple of days. Thank goodness today he is fever free! Yesterday when I got home from work he had a whistling wheeze in his chest, so I called the on-call doctor. We ended up in the ER around 7pm last night and we just got home. He has RSV. They did all sorts of things to him last night, it just broke my heart. They almost made us stay the night again tonight. But his stats got better. They were concerned because his oxygen level was too low while he slept. They kept something taped to his big toe to read his stats, every 2 hours we had to give him a nebulizer treatment, that was fun, and to top off the wonderful evening they ended up taping an oxygen thing to his face. Oh my god did that poor boy scream, then after putting that on, they nurse picked him up out of the bed and banged his poor head on the top of the cage. (At least that's what I call it!) I still haven't slept. He hardly slept. They were also shoving Motrin down him, and also Prednosone. My poor baby. He was such a trooper, but it hurt to hear him cry so much and so loud. So now we get to take a trip to the doc in the morning, and every four hours tonight we get to give him an inhaler. They said it's better than the nebulizer. That's fun too since we have to hold him down for that also. He was just traumatized last night and today. I feel horrible. I know it's to help him breathe, but it just breaks my heart! They just wouldn't let him rest last night. He wanted to just sleep soooo bad. I just hate daycares. That's the only place he must of gotten sick from. He hasn't been anywhere else, and a lot of kids and teachers have been sick the last 2 weeks. My poor baby!!!

Poor Caiden and Mommy...I am glad he is feeling better. I don't think you can catch RSV from another child...but I could be wrong. I hope he feels 100% soon.

Re: We got to spend the night in the hospital...

Thanks everyone... Today he seems much better. Still not really wanting to crawl around, wants to cuddle with us more. I don't mind! He had a fever this morning, and still sounds terrible. Well, his cough. Still has a little bit of a wheeze to it. He ate a lot more than yesterday, though doesn't seem to want liquids still. At least the doctor said today that once you've gotten RSV, he'll never get it again. This whole experience was a little scary. I'll keep everyone updated. Thanks again!!!
