The third one was in North Merrick..I believe the block was called Thelma Place or ave...I think it was near a Fire House...Not sure..I was unfamiliar with the area and following the real estate salesman

Thelma Ave. I grew up down the block from there.

Thats what houses cost on Long Island though....Sad that $400k gets you a house that needs redoing or a house that isnt so big.
It seemed like a really nice block. The realtor said that in the past few years around 10 of the original families have sold their houses on that block.

Its a pretty decent sized house, It just needed a lot of work on the inside and a little work like all new gutters on the outside.
The whole house was pink on the inside downstairs....

Now the work that it needed....did it need to be done asap to be liveable or was it bearable. Other than painting and the floors. How bad were the kitchen and bathroom?

The kitchen was usable...and I think the bathroom was too. It was an older couple and 2 kids living there I believe...The house had the old people smell in it....It had hardwood floors through out the house....
The basement had oil at one time and they converted to gas....The owner was actually having someone remove the oil tank this week that was in the basement. Half of the basement was finished but a very long time ago...and the other half was where the laundry room was....
I liked the house, but Danielle wants something that is finished....For the price I would want something finished too.
It defenately could be nice though.

omg i think i am going to fall off my chair. for that amount of money you can get a mansion in florida. a 7 bedroom 3 bath walk in closets, 3 car garage and pool. i can not believe that amount that houses are going for there. i am glad that i went to florida. my mil got a house 3400 square feet for 180,000 in tampa.....way to expensive to live on li.

its really sad how much it costs to live on Long ISland...
My parents are thinking of selling in the nxt 4-5 years...and going to Myrtle Beach...
They built their house 31 years ago for 25,000, they can sell it for 750,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear so many people say that about Florida but in some respects all things considered - I have heard a lot of drawbacks to Florida just as there are with Long Island. There are pros and cons to every place.

oh dont get me wrong there are pros and cons to everything. but you can never a house like you can get in fl to one that you can get in new uyork brand new. you can actually live comfortably down here. not that i am saying about peoples financial situations....just my opinion.
