even though our bid was accepted, we withdrew our offer. interest rates have really gone up in the last week or 2 and it impacts our monthly payment significantly

Oh darn

We just got rid of our HELOC b/c the interest rates went up a bit more than we were comfortable with

sorry to hear that

but you can always refi when rates drop-

TIP -remember you can lock the rate- so that if they go up- you get the old rate

Not sure. You would have to call him and find out. Thats what is advertised today - but the rates change daily.

If you put less than 20% down... maybe it will go up to 6% which is still not too bad.

But again... i don't know for sure. I just checked the mortgage rate sheet and thats what he posted today.

Oh... and in the future... you should always budget for a higher interest rate than you think you are going to get since the rates change on a daily basis.

When I was buying... i budgeted for 5.75% rate. I ended up with a 5.375%. At this time of year.... you should probably budget for 6.375% - 6.5% to be on the safe side.

Rates have gone up sharply in the past week or two.

Dina - I just wanted to offer you some and post on this. You should always make allowances for a rate change while searching since nothing can be guaranteed until you lock the rate!

We were offered 6-6.2% with 0% down. I know it's different where we're looking, but it seems that there are good people out there. This is he 3rd person we went to...so hang in there. Good luck finding your house!
