We took Lyla's Christmas pics!!

Don't have any to post right now, since we didn't pay for the proofs, but we went to Sears yesterday and they came out pretty good. I did much better this time, and only spent $32! Last time I spent $145

We only got wallets of by herself her to send out with xmas cards, and we also got a family portrait done, but only got a couple of prints for us and our parents.

The experience at Sears was a little stressful, because we had a very young, inexperienced girl as our our photographer. She was very sweet, but was wasting our time and theirs since she couldn't get Lyla to smile. I had to do it, but when we were doign the family shots, I was sitting with her on my lap, so since I wasn't facing her, she wasn't smiling.

Since we were taking so long, and I wasn't happy with many of the shots (they show you on the computer) I kept making her redo them. Finally, the manager came in, and I told him that I was not happy with the family shots, so he made us sit down again, and did a much better job. I guess he realized that time was being wasted and I wasn't going to spend as much money if I wasn't satisfied.
I will get them back by the end of the month.

Personally, I will *never* spend money on dept. store photos anymore. It's totally not worth it IMO, b/c they make you purchase 'packages' and that is where you end up spending too much money.

We are taking Paul's picture ourselves this year, and I'm getting the 4x8 photo cards from Rite Aid. I can get 80 cards for $40. That is sooo worth it. I looked into Shutterfly, but for the # of cards I need, it would have been too much money, when I can get them around the corner for less.

I can't wait to see them. We're taking Patrick to Sears Sunday.

I got Lukes pics done the other day and a woman was telling me something similar to your story. Her daughter is alos around Lylas age. She said it took 2 hours and they hardly got any good pics. She kept wanting to yell to the guy'Quick! Take the picture NOW' I think she went to JC Penney. My SIL gave me a heads up about Sears and how they dont give you a few poses to choose from for the 'great deal' package, just the first pose you approve.

I've only gone to the Picture People and I love it. They are definitely more expensive but I utilize their coupons, they send out alot via email. We may or may not use the pic of Luke I got the other day. He ws really not cooperating, which was a first, and he was just on the go and it was near impossible to get the shot. The pic is cute but he is looking away not right at the camera. I get some great shots by myself at home - that's what I did last year for holiday cards - took my own and used shutterfly and I was happy.


I'm sure Lyle looks adorable but that sure does sound frustrating. You have to be quick with the little ones, they have their tolerance level before they get hungry, tired, bored or pissy - I would think that would be the first thing they'd teach a person who is taking baby/children pics.
