We want to get married in NY next week

Hi All,
First Post - I originally posted in 'theme weddings' but might be best here !
I was hoping some can help me...my fiance and I are off to NY this Friday 19th May...and have decided to get married there also !!!!
We have 'set' the date for the 26th of May. Once we land we will get out marriage license.
We want to get married in Manhattan City Hall
has anyone been married there or going to be married there
Also how likely are the queues going to be on a Friday ??
Any advice or information etc. would be great.
Also if someone can recommend a BUDGET NY photographer and locations that would be ever so helpful.
Please help an out-of-towner

So exciting congratulations! I work in NYC but unfortunately I do not know anything about getting married last minute here. If I find anything out I will pass it on. Good luck!

You have to have the marriage lic. 48 hours before getting married. If you are from OOT, I am not sure how that works, I would call up the city clerk's office and find out.
As for photographers, I think your best bet on such short notice would be to check out Craig's List.

Unfortunately I do not know any places to recommend you to in the city, but I wanted to say congrats!!!!! That is so exciting. I wish you both the best of luck!!!

I don't know how much luck you will have, unfortunately. Here is a link to info about the NYC Marriage Bureau and it seems to me you need some US proof of citizenship. I just glanced at it though so maybe you can find out more in the fine print or by making some calls. Marriage License link

how about central park, time square, all of the major land marks are nice places to take picture, you could go by the brooklyn bridge on the bklyn side you could do the promandae and get the skyline as your backdrop.

My fiance called the Staten Island Town Hall and they said they will accept our Drivers License and Passports (Australian & UK) as form of ID to grant us our marriage license...

Also try 12th night photography.. they do stuff last minute and are reasonable.

Just make sure you have your marriage license at least 24hours before the ceremony.

Call Twelfth Night (great prices) - they are located on LI but I believe that they will travel.

Why are you calling the Staten Island Town hall if you want to get married in Manhattan?

I thought you can get a marriage license at any town hall - and get married where you please

Just called the Staten Island City Hall office - its ok to use their marriage license in order to get married at City Hall Manhattan.

Don't you have to wait? Can you get married the same day as the day the licence is issued?

I would go to Central Park and do a carriage ride...

Yes - there is a 24 hour wait after the marriage license is granted...we are hoping to get our license this Friday (19th) and get married the following Friday (26th)...
