I've got a party tomorrow night (50th bday party) can I wear white pants? I say yes - mil says no. It's an older crowd so I don't want people talking about me ...

White is in this year but I think it is going to rain tomorrow and if that is the case...I would say no.

I always heard that you wait until Memorial day, but I think people are over that now....just my opinion, it is Spring, wear them!

I still obey the rule, but you don't have to anymore! Unless my mother is going to be there, I'm sure no one will say anything!

Re: Wearing white...
technically you're supposed to wear white only between memorial day and labor day. the 'younger' generation threw this rule out the window, but you said it would be an 'older' crowd - so you might want to skip the white pants. you don't want to be self-conscious all night.

Re: Wearing white...
White shoes is a no no!! i actually never wear solid white shoes at all.. i feel like a character from austin powers in all white shoes!! LOL
And OMG!! my 17 year old cousin CONSTANTLY wears OPEN toe WHITE platforms with TAN STOCKINGS!!! when i see her i cringe.. but all my aunts WILL NOT let my cousins go out with out stockings on with a dress.. i tried to explain to them that you CAN NOT wear open toe shoes and stockings but they are from the 70s era and will not schange.. they think i LOOK REDICULOUS with out stockings and open toes!!

lol Suzanne! I agree 100%.
I didn't think twice about wearing the white pants until I told my MIL what I was going to wear and she was like - what? Ugh

Re: Wearing white...
The whole white after memorial day is B U L L. I was out last night with a friend of mine who is a fashion designer for a top brand and she was working white pants last night. so go for it! The only thin I shy away from is wearing white shoes too early in the season... that i wait until mid-may to break out!

Shes a little older.. maybe thats why.. i myself dont have white pants, i tend to lean toward darker colors cause its more sliming and GOD knows i need all the help i cant get! But if you feel comfortable then go for it.. your the one to decide..

Re: Wearing white...
Suzanne your aunt would not like me, I do not wear stocking at all with sandals *cringes*
MY wedding day was the only day I wore a white pair of shoes
I have a white pant suit that I am going to wear as soon as the weather warms up, I hope its next week I will wear it with my black and white sandals
Girl you are a grown person. set your own standards and don't let them determine how comfortable you are...you wear your white and wear it well
