weather in greece??

So, we were thinking of taking a meditteranean cruise and then spending a week in greece in the beginning of may. (our RH gives us 10 days at a hotel in greece). but i just called the lady in charge of the greece hotel and she was warning us that its still pretty cool in may. and its not really beach weather so we might be disappointed. she suggested us pushing the trip back a month or so....but i want to go away soon after the wedding.

has anyone been to greece in may? what is it like? is it too cool to lay out on the beach all day long?

i know the weather is fickle and there is no 100% guarantee, just trying to get some feedback.

i would like to come back from HM with a TAN!!

TIA!

I haven't been there in years, but from what I remember, it's about the same as it is here. When I went, I went in February or March (can't remember) and it was cool. I wore mostly heavy coats but I remember a few days where it was a bit nicer out that I got away with just a heavy sweatshirt. But those were also the days we were hiking mountains and moving around a lot.

I read a review of someone who went to Greece in May and I remember her saying that the weather was nice, but the water was still cold. FH explained this to me, saying that since they just came out of the winter, the water will still be cool and not getting warm just yet. I am a little concerned with the weather if we go to Greece for our HM in October. I have heard that it's nice out (60's-70's) but I would like the water to be warm.

im not a huge water person, but i do like to lay out and feel the sun. so as long as its hot enough for me to want to wear a bathing suit, its good! im afraid that i am going to want to run in and throw on some sweats tho...and then that kinda ***** :(

I was in Greece at the end of May 2010. and it was amazing weather. I wore nothing but capris and tank tops. and one day when we were at Samos it was blazing hot, my mom thought we gonna die LOL
Israel is not that far from there, and we usually have very similar weather as Greece, and May is very hot. night time tho is cooler, so I usually wore a hoodie.

HTH

p.s. how did ur business trip go?

It's a little warmer than it is here in May I'd say

I was told that end of June-mid September is optimal for weather, but August is HOT.

We are probably going to go in either July or September of 2010 because our wedding is December 09.

July is pretty hot also but Greece isn't hot like it is here because it doesn't get nearly as humid so while temperatures are really hot it doesn't feel gross

I haven't been to Greece, I was saving it for my honeymoon- and thats why I was over the moon hen the Floral Terrace told us about the 10 day vacay in Greece. We're taking it right after our wedding (Sept 18 2010).

Good luck, whatever decision you make!
