Wedding advice

What advice did your married friends, family and strangers give to you???

This is weird but when FH and I opened a bank account the lady was telling us not to get married, she just got divorced. We didn't know what to say,it was awkward

Wow, how rude of the banker!

The best piece of advice we got was communication is the most important. She told me your mind will play tricks on you and you could be thinking all sorts of nonsence or making things worse in your mind but if you and your husband are able to talk about anything and everything its the best thing u can do for your relationship.

I so agree. Esp us woman.. we can sometimes over think a situation and drive ourselves nuts in our mind lol

Re: Wedding advice

It really bugs me when people try to limit our joy about our upcoming wedding. The week after we got engaged, my uncle (married with two baby girls), was like, 'Are you sure you want to do this? It's all over now. I feel so sorry for you, man,' to FH. I was a little annoyed because my uncle is married to an incredible lady, who might be too good for him, and has just been blessed with 2 adorable baby girls.

I think the best advice I've heard yet, is to be kind to one another and to try to make each other happy. Clearly, that lady at the bank puts her ideas and opinions before anyone elses, which might be why her marriage didn't work out in the first place.

I know , what ever happened to simply 'congratulations'??

Re: Wedding advice

Here's a good one and my personal favorite

I'm talking to my best friend and MOH the other night, who got married almost 2 years ago... She's had a 10 hour day at work, then got caught up at a doctor's appointment for 3 hours.

It's 9 pm her time (She lives in CA) and she hasn't had dinner and still needs to make 5 dozen buckeyes (like the candies) for her husband's social function tomorrow - because he doesn't know how to make them but promised them (navy base, they all talk).

She asked me 'Are you sure you want to get married? *with a laugh*'

I said 'I Do... I love (Fh's name).?

She laughed ' I love Rob (her husband). .... (a pause) I'm going to have to say that a lot tonight to get through this. I love Rob. I lo-ve Rob.'

Then started laughing..

Her advice, was when FH frustrates you.. say you love him. Sincerely, it stops the anger frustration and if said sincerely let's you focus on what's importnat. That you do love him, no matter how stupid men can be.
