wedding announcement....

Is anyone listing wedding annoucements in their local paper? If so, which paper? what is the process?

I am listing mine in the Daily News and the Staten Island advance. I just moved from Staten Island and I have a couple ex's from there that I want to see me looking pretty in my dress. LOL!

I'm doing maybe Newsday, definitely the New York Times...Look at the webpages for the papers and it will tell you how far in advance to send in the paragraph and pic.

is there a fee? do you list it before the wedding or after the wedding? sorry for the nutty questions - i'm completely clueless

I listed mine in Newsday (it will be in there August 1st!! - so excited) You can request a form from Newsday and they will send it to you to fill out and once they get it back they call you to confirm the information and tell you when it will be in there. If you want the Newsday information look in the Life section on Sunday.

ETA - it is free to list in newsday

Newsday and NY Times are free. NY Times does not guarantee it getting in. You must send in before wedding for Times, I think Newsday changed to putting in til after a few months after the wedding...

I had an engagement announcement in my former hometown's paper so everyone could see how cute I got after I left. I will do the samething with the wedding announcement.
