Wedding announcements

NY Times or others--who is thinking of doing these? FI and I both agree that we could care less and are prob going to skip it but SHOCK , his society mother, FMIL, was SHOCKED when she asked where the wording for the announcement was and I told her we were prob going to skip it.

Are you kidding-- I cannot wait to be printed in Sunday Styles!!!

Um, yes.. I am doing this.

Although it is tough to get into the Times. They receive something like 30,000 annoucements for each week. I think you need to submit info 6 weeks before your event.. They have info on the web site- in the Fashion & Style section.

We are not submitting any other annoucements.

Well, we went to 'certain' schools, and have interesting jobs but are not as multicultural as they seem to like. Almost all of our immediate circle of friends have done it. We just don't, I don't know exactly...think it is something that much to do. Have not decided yet.

Well- if it is so important for your FMIL for you to be there-- she can find a way to get you in... FH's family is well connected, so we are thinking we will get in.

I really think it is more fun. I love reading Sunday Styles every weekend and looking for people I know.

To appease your FMIL- write the copy and submit it, if you get in, you get in.. I think it is also a nice keepsake for the two of you.

Other than that-- we are not bothering with anything else.

i definitely scour sunday styles every week for people i know, so it's fun in that way... on the other hand, i also find it very hoity-toity and obnoxious at times. so i'm not sure whether we'll do it or not. getting in doesn't mean a thing to me one way or the other, so maybe we'll do it just for fun...

Truth is, I think we don;t want them more (or care less about them) than she does, so we will play it out.
