wedding at Sunset Harbour - update with photos

FH was a GM at his friend's wedding on Saturday night at Sunset Harbour in East Patchogue. Overall, the wedding was AMAZING! Here's what we liked and didn't like... remember, JMO (and in some cases, FH's opinion).

PROS
Service: Terrific service all around. The maitre d, Gina, REALLY had her stuff together. She ran a tight ship and not a thing went wrong that anyone can tell. Also, they set up both the inside & outside for the ceremony since the weather was shaky. At the last minute, they decided to have the ceremony outdoors and, within 5 minutes, the inside was transformed back to a dining room!

Food: Everyone was raving about the food at dinner!

Decor: Not overbearing or gaudy like some places. It was such a tastefully decorated RH. And the setup for the indoor ceremony was BEAUTIFUL! Even the bride wouldn't have been disappointed to have the ceremony inside.

CONS
Chair covers: The chairs at Sunset Harbour are ugly (not your typical RH chairs) and they NEED chair covers, so they're included in the price. Many of the chair covers were dirty or stained.

Bar/Drink service: There's only one bar and it's in the CH area. It's pretty far from the dining room and no one was walking around asking if we wanted drinks.

Overall, an amazing wedding! Everything went smoothly, the place was beautiful, the food was to die for, and if we weren't booked, we'd unequivocally choose Sunset Harbour for our wedding!!!!

ETA: here are a couple of photos. I didn't get any photos of the bride or anything. I was snapping photos before the wedding even started because I was there with the groosmen and BM.

Great review!

My cousin's wedding was there a few years ago. I didn't notice that the chair covers were in bad shape but I did notice that the bar was kind of far. That was really my only complaint. Actually, they may have changed this, but when my cousin got married outside there they had those plastic cheap outside chairs on the deck and it was terrible because the legs were breaking from underneath them and people were falling. My cousin was so embarrased. I'm sure they changed them by now (that was about 4 years ago).

Nice pictures! If the worst thing you can say about a place is that they need new chair covers - that's pretty good!

You have nothing to worry about. The place is TERRIFIC. Great staff and excellent food. Oh, the toilets didn't flush. Every girl in the place was complaining about the toilets... I think it just had something to do with the water pressure. who knows.
