ladies i need help... we have been looking for FH's wedding band and see all these different materials: triton (tungsten) brawn cobalt and of course white gold different stores keep telling us different things...what metal do you suggest? Fh thought he wanted plain old fashioned white gold but we hear the other materials are stronger but does that really matter?

Re: wedding band for FH
We went with white gold. It's classic.
I feel like some of these other materials might be stronger and cheaper, but I also feel like they're trendy, or I don't know, but I wanted to stick with tradition.
I had to reinforce my ring which is an heirloom and to do it with palladium would have been 1/3 of the price of platinum, but I just couldn't do it. I had to do platinum

FH got a white gold one - it's pretty sturdy and heavy - love it!

Re: wedding band for FH
Well, when you buy gold, it obviously has a value and when you buy the heavy metals, it has durability, but no value...but gold is also durable, so it really just comes down to preference.
FH got tungsten, but mostly because he loved the look of the darker metal. He felt the golds were too shiny, lol. Whatever, we had more money for my ring =) and thats the important thing...lol.

Re: wedding band for FH
I just read that tungsten and titanium can't be sized, which is a consideration.
If your FH were to gain weight (let's face it, most married men, do), you'd have to get a whole new band, and not be able to stretch the original.

fh got his plain bands in gold, he originally wanted one of the stronger metal but they cant be resized and he didnt like about them. Gold can always be refinished and resized and is still durable.

Re: wedding band for FH
We're ordering him a Tungsten band from Overstock. They have the best prices that I've seen. FH works with his hands at work all day and plus we won't feel bad if he loses it

FH got a white gold one with diamonds. He didn't want another one but recently agreed to have a spare for when we vacation, etc so we'll probably just order a simple one of tungstun or titanium? forgot which one

Re: wedding band for FH
hmm thats a good question. I got FH a white gold ring but I may get him a titanium ring and return the other ring only because he works with his hands and the white gold may get messed up and scratch.

Our jeweler recommended white gold over the others. I was partial to it also.

I got FH an 18k white gold band. It's simple, yet elegant, and very traditional, while still having that modern look to it.

Re: wedding band for FH
i got him a 14K Solid Two-Tone Gold Hammered Wedding Band Ring.
FH got a white gold plain band. Its not terribly plain, it does have a pattern and designto it, but no diamonds or anything. Gold will always have more value than other metals. Will these metals last the test of time? only time will tell!
