Wedding Band Help

Hey everyone, I know this topic has been talked about over and over again but we're not making any progress with getting a wedding band and we need help.

We're looking for something a little different in a wedding band. We want some 80's music (not Journey), some 90's music (Weezer) and some current music along with some classic rock (Rolling Stones).

I was on a website (elanartists.com) and saw a band Ground Control, they play a bunch of great stuff from the Police to Lupe Fiasco.

Our Budget is 11,000-14,000 (doesn't include ceremony/cocktail hour)

Can anyone help us, we're looking for a slightly different wedding band. The band needs to be high energy.

Try Hank Lane, they have a bunch of different bands and if you tell them what you're looking for they can steer you the right way.

I am not a big fan of them (Hank Lane) a lot of my friends how a few of their bands and I wasn't too impressed. We're looking for something a little different but thanks KK19.

I know people will probably say Code Bleu, and that might not be original enough for you, but I'm a music snob and was so impressed by their showcase. They have a ton of energy, and seeing them up there having fun together made me want to get up and dance. They will try their best to accommodate anything you want them to. And they do all the genres you're looking for.

I guess I am looking for something a little different. Younger musicians, that play something a little more geared towards 25-30 year olds.

I know there will be plenty of people there over 50 but we're looking for something more like us.

Completely understandable :) just as a reference, I'm 26 and am into more indie rock and classics and this fit me. I'll keep my ears out for some younger people though!

Thanks Ash. This is the one thing that I really care about for my wedding. I am not into the other stuff (the food, the flowers etc.) but I love music and I want something that fits us.

Occasionally I will hear a Police song at a wedding and it stands out and the people love it. I heard a Modest Mouse song at another one (Beverly Hills wedding) and the people we're going nuts.

I am looking for something different I guess.

I take it you are going to use Code Bleu.

Yep! booked with them about 2 months ago. Music was third important to us though, we spent most of budget on photo and video. I have heard good things about Hank Lane but we were not at all impressed with them. I'd look into the Faze 4 bands too though the musicians are too young they are pretty decent. Yep-NYE! Never pictured a winter wedding but we didn't want a long engagement and NYE seemed like the perfect fit-start off the new year as husband and wife and everyone is always looking for something fun to do!

Check out Starlight Orchestras....I saw them at a friends wedding and thought they were amazing and very original.

I hear ya! I'm a huge music snob and had many musician friends as wedding guests, so I looked at a ton of bands (not impressed by Hank Lane either!). I ultimately went with The Times Square Orchestra, and I loved them. They don't fit your band member age requirement, but you may want to check them out anyway - they are fantastic, can play anything, and had by far the best energy of any band I saw.

Good luck – this was the most stressful decision for me, too!

The Original Faze 4 is seriously amazing. They made my wedding - and they definately will cater to a younger crowd (older crowd, too). How about any crowd?!

I went with Rhapsody (same company as Code Bleu - Skyline Orchestras) and loved the showcase.

I would look in to any of the bands by Franklin Wayne Music. We had the original Heart and Soul at our wedding. 2 of the 3 lead singers formed a new band called DreamKast, but they are still with Franklin Wayne. They were beyond fantastic -- we saw them at a showcase and booked immediately after we saw them perform!
