Wedding Band - PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Wedding Band - PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Went to the diamond district yesterday, and we started looking at some bands.
We found a
white gold band,
1ct 5 princess cut prong set,
color: G

for $1200
Is that alot?
Can we get a better price?

The thing is, Sunday, majority of the stores were closed, so I can't really compare.

The diamonds in the pic are larger than mine is.

We paid more for mine - I think what you have been quoted seems to be a good deal.

Having said that, mine are colorless, perfect stones, so whether yours are or not will affect the price.
ETA: mine is white gold too.

we didn't get it yet. We decided to do some more research - though deposit is in for it.

But thanks!!!!!

I was a first concerned that its only 5 stones, and doesn't go half way around, But, since my ring is similar to that (baguettes) it looks nice

what is the clarity of the stones? you should always ask that quetion. it's not a bad price if they are SI clarity or better.

I believe its Color G and VSI or something like that.
But its a good point, we should ask.

What is a good clarity for this price?

Mine is 6 princess cut stones .87 carats for $1200. Sounds like you got a good price to me!

ETS: mine is also white gold

I think it sounds about right for the ring.

Sounds like you got a good deal for what you are getting. Those are 20 point stones so that seems good.

Are you uncomfortable with the jeweler?

Re: Wedding Band - PLEASE HELP!!!!!

For near colorless (G color), it's a gret deal. TCW 1.00 means each stone is about .20ct, which is pretty substantial...it must shine a lot! How much more would it have been for plat? Is your e-ring white gold or plat?

If it's G color, the clarity is probably VS1 or 2. I highly doubt that it'll be SI clarity as those inclusions are clearly visible.

You know, I didn't ask how much more for platinum. But is a good point!!! I should ask, my e-ring is platnum, and most probably the platnum band will be out of my price range (I think its about $300 to $400 more

But it does shine!

Its not that I am uncomfortable, its just that I don't know them at all. That is the problem, I don't know if I can trust them or not. But, we got the best deal from them. Than again, not all the stores were open on the Diamond district on Sunday (in fact, most were closed) so I am not sure.

In all honesty and as someone who works in jewelry, if it's only $300-400 more for plat I would do it. Talk them down...the Diamond District is great for that. Did you talk them down from the original price? If not, you can probably go lower than $1200 for white gold...you never know unless you ask! Good luck and feel free to FM if you need help!

We definately talked them down. Initially, the quoted us 1600, but since my FMIL is buying $3K of jewelery from them, they took off 400.

You really think platnum/white gold makes a difference? Cause with platinum, if its 1600 (400 more) it really makes a budget whole

Great job on talking them down! You can always get your beautiful white gold ring re-set in platinum...maybe as an anniversary present? Platinum wears better, has a longer shelf life, can just be polished when tarnished (as opposed t re-dipping in rhodium) and is stronger.
