For those of you who have gone wedding band shopping...what do you think is a reasonable budget? Innitially, I didn't think I should have to spend more than 1k for each ring but now I'm not sure...
I went to our jeweler last night and saw a ring I love that basically had diamonds completely covering it...similar to the pic...and he said for platinum it would be like 1500-1800...
Do you think this is good or high?

I think it's an ok price. If you want the price a little lower opt for white gold instead of platnium.

something else you can consider doing which is what someone I work with did, in stead of going all the way around with the diamonds you can do 3/4 round. She cut out a good chunk of the price by doing that.

platinum supposedly holds the diamonds better and it doesn't wear easily. i have 14k white gold and my band is already starting to wear. also, with white gold it will eventually start to turn color. fh and i now wish we got platinum.

Considering what we paid for my white gold band I think its a good price..if your ering is white gold I would go with white gold for the band too..

I've never heard about platnium holding diamonds better. Gold might wear eventually but it's a stronger metal then platnium is. If you bang your ring it'll show more in platnium then in gold. Each has it's +'s and -'s

Re: Wedding Band shopping
If i go with a band like this where its pretty much diamond covered, I guess I don't really have to worry about it getting scratched...I really dont think its necessary to go platinum..If FH wants his platinum I guess thats fine but I think I'll stickt to white gold

Re: Wedding Band shopping
I just got quoted 1,380 for a 3/4 carat platinum eternity band size 4.5. how many carats was it?
ETA it was VS1 diamonds

Re: Wedding Band shopping
platinum wears longer then white gold. it is a heavier, denser metal, which allows it to be more scratch-resistant than white gold. the downside is that platinum, because it is not mixed to make up the composition of the wedding band, tends to be far more expensive.
these are the wedding bands that we are getting.
FHs is the Lucida wedding band in platinum & is 4.5 mm wide. cost is $1,450.
mine is the shared setting band ring with a full circle of diamonds (total carat weight: 1 carat) in platinum & is 2.2 mm wide. & costs $5,350.
i am sure you can find similar bands in platinum for less money. we are paying more because they are Tiffany. however, since we feel that this is something we will wear for the rest of our lives the expense is definitely worth it.

but doesn't your jeweler maintain the color? You should really take it in like twice a year to maintain it and they usually dont charge once you bought it from them...I did hear however that once it turns, you cant fix it
