FH fell in love with a wedding band at the Karat Shoppe. Its a little more than I wanted him to spend but he loves this ring and hasnt seen anything else like it. My question is, do jewelry shops have their own styles of rings or do you think if I shopped around I could find the same exact ring somewhere else. The ring has baguettes and one single round diamond in white gold for $1200 and it isnt a full karat. Does that seem overpriced?

im sure you can find it elsewhere ..i don't think jewelery is specific to store..and imo that is alittle pricey..but maybe its because the one single diamond is of great quality and a decent size (is that the case??)..maybe bring a pic of it to other stores...

i'm really not sure if that's a good price or not - i'm so dumb with jewelery pricing!
there is a good chance you can find it somewhere else.. When FH & I were looking we did a mall crawl - checking out all the jewelery stores in a mall & most of them had identical stuff!

it does sound kind of expensive, that's higher than the quotes I got for my platinum band. If you can draw it or find a similar ring, you can definitely shop around and get a better price than that.

Then Im gonna shop around. Im clueless about jewelry also cause Ive never been crazy about wearing it. I rarely wear earrings! Im gonna do a shop around hopefully I can find the ring elsewhere for cheaper. I wish I could find a ring that looks like it online so I can show you guys but the single round diamond is not big. They have great quality rings, though.
Does anyone know how deposits at jewelry stores work? I put 50 bucks down for mine but now I feel like it was too expensive.

You could always see if can get the ring custom made, I noticed that there are usually similar styles in jewelery stores. I would try the mom and pop stores rather than the big chains so you can negotiate prices.

I always thought getting a ring custom made was more expensive than just buying one...
