So my dad says it's absolutely rude to have a box for the gift/cards. That you should take the cards in person and people shouldn't drop into a box like they're voting. I want a box!!
I also feel like I don't want to spend 2 hours collecting cards!!!

Re: Wedding Box Drama
what about a money bag and have a family member hold it? guests sort of look for the box now-a-days so they know where toput their cards

Re: Wedding Box Drama
honestly, greek weddings.. u hand the card to the couple at the end of the night when u are leaving and in exchange they bride/groom hand u a favor.. or th emother of the bride does...
i think thats whats going to happen at my wedding.. and from there fh and i will be droppping the cards in the box.
i feel the cardbox is also a lil exciting thing for the couple. i cant explain it but.. i guess after the wedding.. thenext day when u open the cards , ur really taking them out of this beautiful cardbox.. so its extra exciting? like opening a huge present?
make sense?

I totally understand what you are saying about the cardbox Barb, opening the cardbox is going to be soo exciting the next day and then going through the cards is just going to to be awesome
to the OP maybe you can collect the cards and then put them in the cardbox

Re: Wedding Box Drama
if you can't have a card box, make your dad volunteer to collect all the cards!

Re: Wedding Box Drama
if you collect the cards you can put them in the box yourself. I personally never put the card into the box or bird cage or whatever, i like to give to bride/groom. If they put it in the box that is perfectly fine by me.

Re: Wedding Box Drama
Why cant you have a card box and just take the cards personally and just put them in the box. I personally hate having a card with all that money sitting with me the whole night and I wish that some people had a card box to put the card in when you walk in to the reception.

Another way of explaining the cardbox:
You never know you could pop into your wedding...someone neither you or FH knows that just wandered in. A small bag of envelopes or a few cards..easy to walk out with. A 3 foot box? Not so easy to walk away with...
just a thought!!

I agree it's pretty hard to walk out with a card box, no one has to watch over it and you can take the cards personally and put them in the box. That is what I plan to do.
Just make the box and tell your dad it is a decoration

Re: Wedding Box Drama
the way i envisioned the card box is not like people going up there and just dropping the card in, but more so after people give us cards, we put the cards in there.

Re: Wedding Box Drama
well how greeksters usually do it is at the end of the night the bride perches next to the favortable and collects cards and gives favors and says good bye to guests, i plan on having my cardbox on the favor table and just dropping the cards in myself just so i know theyll all be together and at least my $374932842 cardbox will be on display lol
