Has anyone gotten their wedding cake from a bakery other than the bakery your hall deals with? If so what is the going rate and would you recommend your bakery?

I haven't picked a place yet but I have been doing lots of research. So much of it depends on the artistic ability of the designer and how much work you want. Do you want fondant or buttercream? I have been quoted anywhere from $8-25 a slice. You usually also have to add in delivery fees.
Oh and while City Cakes makes some of the most beautiful designs in the city, their customer service is AWFUL.

im most likely going to pick a place near my reception hall. have heard great things about leonetti's in greenvale (though it may be pricey). will also probably check out black forest in lindenhurst, as my back up.
