Wedding Cake Question

I know most (or probably all) RH 's include your wedding cake in the price you are paying and they allow you to pick a style based on they have or if you give them a picture (and it's not a 1K cake - LOL) that they will duplicate it.

My question is... do you think they will do a cake made with fondant and not butter cream?? Or would they most likely not do it??

I would say your choice is buttercream or whipped cream. not that fondant is expensive it's just it's very time consuming and intricate work. i think in my package the option is buttercream or whipped cream and i can do anything but fondant is just extra

I called my bakery directly - the fondant cake that i had wanted came out to over $600 - - We scaled it down and went to a basic 4 tier cake - (in my photo album - 1st cake) and its costing us $150 over our 'cake budget' included in our package with VYC.. i think that the basic cake might be like a plain old sheet cake? not sure tho

Thanks Girls. That's what I thought. I wanted to do fondant but know it's intricate and would cost more. I'm not sure I want to put the extra money in the cake.

Fondant is def extra..i contacted the bakery that does caked for my hall on my own and for about $200 more they will do fondant

In my RH, I can only pick buttercream or whipped cream. Fondant is not an option because it is very time consuming. Most RH's that offer cakes do not have fondant unless they use an outside bakery that offers this. It's usually more expensive because of the time involved in making this.
