On average, how much do wedding cakes usually cost? I am not sure I like the selection offered at my hall and might consider getting one from a bakery. Any input on price??

Re: Wedding cakes....
It depends on the size you need...and what type of frosting you choose. Sometimes if you are will to use your reception halls baker they will be willing to work with if you have some ideas for the cake...they may charge you for the addtional cost of the cake you choose....buts its still cheaper than using an outside baker.

Usually 3-5 dollars a slice So if you are going to have 100 people, 300-500. But then it also depends on how fancy it is and who you get it from. A friend of mine likes one in CT that costs 600 dollars, and she wants all these roses which are 3 bucks! a rose.

It really depends on where you go. My hall offers a cake for $3.50 a slice but they don't work with fondant and the cake I want can only be done with fondant. I've met with bakers that run the range from $6 a slice, $8, $10, all the way up to $14. All to do the same cake.

I have gotten quotes from $4.25 - $5.50 per slice with silk flowers and more with gum paste flowers.

Im not sure. I think a family friend who was a Pastry Chef at Windows On The World is making ours as the gift. I'll ask her how much they charge if I talk to her.
