If your RH supplies your wedding cake, how does that work? Do they have a book of options, or do you go in with ideas and say here, this is what I want? Anyone know?

Re: Wedding cakes
when i went to the sand castle they showed me a book of diffrent cakes they can do. but they also told me that if i found something i liked that wasen't in the book that they might be able to do it. i still have to show then a pic of it to see if it can be done or not.

Thanks for the info! And I see you're new here...Welcome aboard!
Anyone else have this discussion with their RH or know what the deal is?

Re: Wedding cakes
First you should find out which bakery they go through or if they are an inhouse supplier. Then, see if they have or can do flavors that you like and designs that you like. If they do then talk to the bakery or your BM to go about tastings and a meeting. If you don't like anything and have the option to...you can start searching for a bakery you like. I know this because my RH supplies the cake and the website of the bakery isn't kept up...so I was torn. Then I spoke and met with them and I am soo happy. It isn't kept up because they are too busy!!!

Re: Wedding cakes
My RH has a deal with 2 bakeries in the area. I went to the bakeries and they told me if what I was interested in was covered, or if we had to make up the difference. That's how it works for us...don't know if yours is the same. HTH!!

I love your avitar title!!! I guess your FH works in Rain, Snow, Sleet?!!!!
Woodbury has a book of *I think* about 10 cakes...you choose the style most similar to what you want, and the flavors. If you have a picture of a cake that you like, it's a good idea to bring it with you.
I HIGHLY recommend going to Dortoni's though - my cake not only tasted disgusting, but it didn't look anything like the picture I gave them!!

Re: Wedding cakes
My RH said that they make the cake and I'd have to show pictures of the shape I like (round, square, etc...) and the design I like. They will match anything I bring in to them.

Re: Wedding cakes
They will usually have a book of cakes that their baker has done. You can pick from one of those, or you can go there with your own cake ideas, and work something out with them...they should be able to do whatever kind of cake you want - they may just charge you extra for it if it's not in their book.

FH does, but he is not the mailman....hahahah it is a reference to my new addiction of stalking the mailman for rsvp's.

Re: Wedding cakes
our RH does supply the cake...we have yet to choose ours, but it was explained to us that we could basically bring in any picture and the baker could replicate it...I was told that it hd to be within reason meaning nothing over the top elaborate because that would lead into having to pay a bit for it...and we were told that when we go for our tasting, we will choose our cake filler etc...HTH

Re: Wedding cakes
My RH allowed me to bring in a picture of a cake that I wanted. They told me that if the design was intricate and work-intensive, they would have to charge me extra.

I have my cake picked out that I found online. I'm bringing that picture to the bakery so they can replicate it. It's nothing crazy.

Re: Wedding cakes
We haven't picked our cake yet... But it's included on our contract with our RH. I would call your RH or check your contract to see if it's included - in my experience- most are.... We'll pick ours at our menu tasting...
