Wedding Cakes - How Much?

Wedding Cakes - How Much?

I am thinking of having my reception at a place that does not include a wedding cake. I find this odd...however, if I do go with this place, I would like to know how much a wedding cake costs from an outside baker?

Ours is for 120 people and it is $800. We are getting a very intricate design though.

I really think it depends on who the bakery is. I have heard of peple getting them for $2.50 a person up to $10 a person. You just have to begin talking to bakers about what you want and getting quotes.

My friends venue does not include a cake either. She can choose to go through an outside source or if she wants to go through the venue baker, then they will be charged $4 a slice. So I guess the total would depend on how many people you are having.

like centerpieces (low = $$ vs high= $$$$), cake prices vary by bakery and by style. Buttercream cakes cost less than fondant, and obviously, more decoration = more $$$

we're having a 'topsy turvy' cake (think alice in wonderland) with fondant and geometric shapes. It will cost about $8/slice

There are ways to keep the costs down if you do decide to get your own cake. For example, you can get a small wedding cake for pictures and your cake cutting and then just have a sheet cake cut in the back for however many guests you'll need to accomodate.
