Re: wedding cancelled!
I´m really sorry to hear that. I think that if you are sure you are canceling it the best thing to do is call the hall right away. Since it´s so soon you might be able to do something about it. However, I hear that Nassau county law states that they don´t have to give you back the deposit. However, it doesn´t hurt to ask. Especially since its´so soon.

I would call the reception hall immediately. Since it was so soon, maybe they will work with you and give your deposit back. Sorry things didn't work out

Re: wedding cancelled!
According to my RH, it is NYS Law that either party is able to cancel a contract without penalty within 3 Days of being signed. If what they said is true, which i definately suggest you looking into, and you are still within that 3 day grace period, your RH should give you back your deposit money without a problem. I know this because my RH had to cancel on us due to a date 'issue'. Good luck and sorry to hear the news. Better to know sooner than later.

Re: wedding cancelled!
I looked into that NYS law about canceling a contract within 3 days... the truth is I don't THINK that reception halls fall under that category of contracts that can be cancelled, but it might. If it does qualify, then it has to be cancelled by midnight the third day after the contract is signed. What I suggest you do is call up (ASAP, def within this 3-day period) and say that you need to cancel, if they give you a hard time then bring up that law, just say that you know that you're allowed to cancel this kind of contract within 3 days (since they might not know if it doesn't apply to them) and then if they still insist tell them you will absolutely get a lawyer involved and that they should just 'do the right thing' and let you out of the contract rather than having to incur legal fees to fight you on it in court, it's only been a matter of three days. Regardless, I think all that you will be responsible for is to forfeit the deposit you gave them but make sure whatever happens when you talk to them, that you send them a letter right after that 'memorializing your discussion' repeating what you talked about and that you are cancelling the contract and will get X money back. This way you have a written record of it. Sorry you're in this situation, hope you're able to get your money back and move on from this.

Re: wedding cancelled!
I dont have any advice on this, but I felt compelled to write & at least say Im so sorry about what happened w/u & FH. That *****. Only consolation is that it was much earlier on than right before the wedding. God Bless & good luck in everything!

Re: wedding cancelled!
I am so sorry to hear you had to cancel.
As odd as this sounds, some of the places I went to said if we give a deposit- then do a food tasting and don't like it they will refund the money no questions asked. If you didn't do the tasting yet maybe this will work???
Sorry to hear again.

Re: wedding cancelled!
I am sorry to hear this.....3 days is such a short time I am sure the RH people will have a heart and return some of your deposit. It is not like they lost their chance to book it to someone else, technically it has only been off the market 3 days. I am sure they will see that and be reasonable. It was no loss to them. 3 months would be another story, but 3 days should not be an issue.

Re: wedding cancelled!
There should be a cancellation clause in your RH contract. Call the RH now and see what they can do!

Re: wedding cancelled!
So sorry...check your contract...I think that the other girls are right, there is a time frame for you to get back your money. Don't forget that if you paid by credit card, you can always fight the charges and if you paid by check...stop payment on it like yesterday!!!

Re: wedding cancelled!
Sorry to hear. I would call Chateau as soon as possible and let them know the situation. You might be able to get your deposit back but you might not. Since your wedding was going to be in 2011 they have plenty of time to book it. Good Luck!!

I'm so sorry you are going through this. Good luck getting money back. I cancelled my wedding and i wasn't able to get it all back, but you may have luck since ti is so son. You'll also be much more likely to get it back f someone books your date.
