wedding card mailbox w/stand

Has anyone ever made their own free standing wedding cardholder mailbox?

I have an idea about how to go about designing it and all...but will have to get creative about the free standing part of it. Any tips?

We made one for my cousins shower...

what we did was we went to michaels and got the wood one that they have there (Its a rather large or small one) and then just used the bottom part to a table that we found in marshalls as the base..

I would say the best thing to use would be a rod, like curtain rod, wrap it with ribbon and then just place it in a large bucket of some sort...

I get what you mean though... I was thinking similarly along those lines too.

For the bottom, the other thing I was thinking of was getting a very thick round rod, almost like a rod for hanging clothes in a closet. drilling it to the bottom of the mailbox and then using a piece of wood on the bottom (a square piece) to steady it.

If you can find pictures that would help so much! Every pic I find shows a mailbox that just sits on a table!
