Wedding ceremony question????

We are having a ceremony only not a mass at our church.

I am making our programs right now.

Right after the exchange of vows & blessing of the rings - Does the lighting of the unity candle come first or the Prayer of the faithful?

Then Nuptial Blessing & Final Blessing.

TIA

Re: Wedding ceremony question????

I am almost positive that the light of the candle is after the vows and blessing of the rings because you are blowing out the two single candles and light the middle one, representing you both as one.

Re: Wedding ceremony question????

We went to a Catholic ceremony this past Nov. and the unity candle was done after the vows, exchange of rings and right before the prayer of the faithful.

Re: Wedding ceremony question????

Yup, the prayer of the faithful comes after the unity candle.

Do you know if you need a reader for the prayer of the faithful or does the priest do it?

Edit: Also are you doing the couples prayer if it's just a ceremony?

Re: Wedding ceremony question????

You shouldn't just take the advice of others on this board for a questions like this....I would ask your priest who will be performing the ceremony and only go by how he says he will do it. I've seen it done a few different ways/times during ceremonies. You can have a reader do the prayer of the faithful or the priest can do it if you choose not to get a reader...but again that is something I would run by your priest.

Re: Wedding ceremony question????

The priest will 'introduce' the Prayer of the Faithful. I think it's nice to have a friend or a famiyl read the Prayers of the Faithful as often times it's friends and family members whose names you will be mentioning when you remember the sick and the dead.

I am having 2 people read the Pryaers of the Faithful... they will alternate.
